Xichong Confucian Temple

Xichong Confucian temple was built during the reign of emperor LiZong of Southern Song Dynasty (1241-1245 A.D.), which was repaired by yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among the Confucian temples in Nanchong, Xichong Confucian temple is relatively complete. The architecture of Xichong Confucian temple is exquisite and unique. The courtyard is full of green trees and has a garden style. In 1983, it was listed as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. The original site of the Confucian temple is located on the peninsula formed by the intersection of Xiangxi and Hongxi in the county. Around 2000, due to the need of urban planning, the Confucian temple was moved to the lotus lake of Jixin square, completely maintaining its old style.

What to watch

Shanmen

The gate is a archway style building, formerly known as "Lingxing gate". There are 11 stone steps in front of the gate, and the roof truss is a small stone wood structure. The two sides of the gate are protected by pillars, and the roof is of the structure of Xieshan. The gate is connected with the Dacheng hall by the hall.

hall

There are four stone lions (now destroyed) in the front and lotus shaped in the back. Eight rafter houses are built with three columns. The beam frame is also a small through bucket structure, and the roof is a suspended Hill structure.

Dacheng Hall

There is a platform in front of Dacheng hall, with a height of 1.2 meters. On both sides of the gables are the combination of stop log and crossing bucket. Five columns are built separately. The inside of the hall is made of reduced columns. Four large columns with a diameter of 0.45M are on the top, and the column base is round. The roof is a double eaves structure.

Left and right wing rooms

The distance between the left and right wing rooms is 19 meters, and the depth is 5.5 meters. Under the eaves are built volume shed, ten rafters through the bucket structure, suspended Hill roof.
