Lingfeng Temple
Lingfeng temple in Huzhou was built in the Liang Dynasty of the northern and Southern Dynasties. The abbot of Ouyi, one of the four eminent monks in Ming Dynasty, was related to this. Lingfeng temple is located in Daxiong peak of Lingfeng mountain, Shuikou village, Lingfeng street, Anji County, Zhejiang Province, about 12 kilometers away from the county seat. Founded in the first year of Liang Kaiping in the Five Dynasties (907 A.D.), it is known as Lingfeng courtyard.
Lingfeng temple, located in Lingfeng mountain, baishuiwan Township, Anji County, Zhejiang Province (formerly known as North Tianmu Mountain), was first built in 907, the first year of Liang Kaiping in the Five Dynasties. It has a history of more than 1000 years. Qian, the king of Wu and Yue, toured Lingfeng and lingered on the beauty of the rock. After he returned to Hangzhou, he granted a plaque of "Lingfeng Changxing", a gate of Guangshan, and gave alms to build a temple, making the Vatican a new one. In the second year of song Zhiping (1065), it was renamed "Baifu Temple". Emperor Yingzong granted a jade seal to zhenshanmen. In the 12th year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty, it was renamed "Lingfeng Temple".
Lingfeng temple is one of the famous monasteries in the south of the Yangtze River. It is the Taoist temple of the pure land patriarch. After thousands of years, a large number of eminent monks emerged, and Liang Youyi's career of selecting Chan masters began. In the Song Dynasty, there was Zhongxian, in the Yuan Dynasty, there was Ruyue, and in the late Ming Dynasty, there was master Ouyi, who created Lingfeng school and created a generation of zongfeng style. During the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty, the temple was destroyed by war. Master Diyin, the former abbot of Guoqing temple in Tiantai Mountain, made a vow to build the temple. After going through the wind and frost, he recruited people from all directions and spared no effort to rebuild the main hall, Mountain Gate and Zen hall.
Anji County Government attaches great importance to Lingfeng ancient temple. In 1983, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection list and approved the restoration and opening.
Master Ouyi, the founder of Lingfeng sect of Zen Buddhism, is a famous person in the history of Chinese Buddhism. His common surname is Zhong, his name is Jiming, and his name is Zhenyu. After becoming a monk and shaving his hair, he was named Zhixu, whose name is Ouyi, and his nickname is "babudaoren". He was born in 1599 in the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. At the age of 14, Xueling, a disciple of Hanshan, became a monk. Later, he lived in Shengxi, Wenling, Huzhou, Jiuhua and other temples, but he had a special love for Lingfeng temple. He loved Pu Jingyou, a 33 year old man from Lingfeng. He said in a verse, "Lingfeng is a stone, which can be believed for thousands of years.". After three times to woling peak, as long as 10 years. In 1655, the eleventh year of Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty, he passed away in Lingfeng, and his disciple Fenggu pagoda was on the right side of Daxiong hall. The master wrote many books, including more than 50 books and 221 volumes of Lingfeng Lun.
