Tu Zhiwei was born in Longchuan village, Liuli, Wengyuan County, Shaoguan, Guangdong Province in 1951. He graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1975, graduated from the graduate class of Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, and obtained a master of Arts degree. He joined the China Artists Association in 1985, went to the United States to study in 1987, obtained a master of Arts degree, and then settled in the United States. Tu Zhiwei is a famous painter living in the United States from Wengyuan. He is an outstanding Chinese living in the United States in the 20th century, a talent of the Chinese century, and a national art judge in the United States.
