Introduction to scenic spots
In the area, pine and bamboo are overgrown, mountains are emerald, surrounded by peaks, and wheat is growing up. In ancient times, it was called "the crown of the Qin forest". It is a unique peak in Xiaolong mountain at the western end of the Qinling Mountains in China,
It is 1742 meters above sea level and 30 kilometers away from Tianshui railway station. The height of the mountain is only 142 meters, but the shape of the mountain is peculiar. The solitary peak rises like a wheat pile, so people call it Maiji Mountain. To the southwest of the mountain is a cliff, on which the famous Maiji Mountain Grottoes are dug. Some are 20 or 30 meters away from the base of the mountain, and some are 70 or 80 meters away. Hundreds of caves and Buddha statues excavated on such a steep cliff are rare in China's grottoes.
Humanistic characteristics
According to historical records, the famous Zen monks xuangao and tanhong gave lectures here and "gathered three hundred monks.". In the three dynasties of Northern Wei, Western Wei and Northern Zhou, there were thousands of statues in Daxing cliff Pavilion. The capitals of Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties were excavated or rebuilt. Although destroyed by many earthquakes and fires in history, 194 caves and niches, more than 7800 clay sculptures and stone carvings, more than 1000 square meters of murals, and 8 cliff pavilions of the Northern Dynasty are still preserved.
Natural scenery
The scenery around Maiji Mountain is beautiful. The mountains are densely covered with cypresses, pines, wild flowers and grass. Climbing to the top of the mountain, you can see green hills all around you. You can see thousands of mountains and valleys, mountains and peaks, pine trees like the sea, clouds and mist, and the distant scenery is intertwined, forming a beautiful picture. This picture is known as "Maiji misty rain" which is the first of the eight scenic spots in Tianshui.
