Jiudian Gorge

Brief introduction of dam

It is the largest water diversion and power generation system in Gansu Province and is under construction. The main projects include dam, diversion tunnel, spillway tunnel, spillway tunnel, powerhouse, etc.

After the completion of the project, the reasonable allocation of external water transfer and local water resources can solve the water consumption of 810000 urban population, 2.72 million rural population and 4.15 million livestock, develop irrigation area of 900000 mu, improve irrigation area of 165000 mu, and generate electricity of 997.4 million kwh per year. It can basically solve the water consumption of urban and rural life, industrial development, ecological construction and high-efficiency agriculture in the project area, and realize the goal of using water as capital The sustainable development and utilization of water resources will promote the sustainable development of economy and society in the project area.

The reason of the construction

The central region of Gansu Province is dry and rainless, the conditions of agricultural production are poor, the output of agriculture and animal husbandry is low and unstable, and the drinking water of people and livestock is difficult in some areas, which seriously restricts the local economic and social development. In order to change the backwardness of this area, a water conservancy project was built at Jiudianxia in the middle reaches of the Taohe River. The Taohe River was used to irrigate 11 counties, including Dingxi County. At the same time, both urban and rural areas and industrial water supply, power generation and flood control were taken into account.

Construction scale

Jiudianxia reservoir has a total capacity of 1.004 billion cubic meters, a maximum dam height of 132 meters, an installed capacity of 3x100 MW and an annual power generation capacity of 1.002 billion kwh. The total length of the tunnel is 2248.09m, with a circular section, a diameter of 9.5m and a longitudinal slope of 547.3.

Engineering benefit

The reservoir regulates the water supply for irrigation, urban life and industry in 11 counties, such as Dingxi; the installed capacity of the hub power station is 3x100mw, and the annual power generation is 1.002 billion kw · h, which undertakes part of the peak load regulation task in the northwest power grid. At the same time, due to the reservoir regulation, the guaranteed output of downstream cascade power stations can be increased, and the annual power generation can be increased; the construction and operation of the power station will promote the development of industrial and agricultural production in the basin To speed up the process of rural electrification, so as to enliven the local economy and improve people's life.

Project progress

The survey and design work of Jiudianxia Water Control Project and water diversion project started in 1988.

The preliminary temporary construction of Jiudianxia Water Control Project started in May 2002. The special highway, construction power supply project, construction water supply project, temporary road in the site, diversion tunnel project and river crossing traffic bridge project have been completed and put into use successively in July 2005. By then, the Jiudianxia Water Control Project will have the conditions to start construction.

In October 2002, the national development and Reform Commission approved the "proposal for Jiudianxia Water Control Project and the first phase project of diverting water from Taohe River".

In December 2002, the Ministry of water resources examined and approved the feasibility study report of Jiudianxia Water Control Project and the first phase water diversion project.

In December 2004, after the establishment of Gansu Power Investment Jiudianxia Water Control Project Co., Ltd., the legal person of the project, it organized design units to compare and demonstrate the dam type and other designs for many times. After discussion and review by well-known experts organized by the water resources and hydropower planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of water resources, it is considered that the construction period of the CFRD scheme can be advanced and the investment can be saved compared with the original scheme.

From June to July 2005, the main works of Jiudianxia Water Control Project, including dam, powerhouse, diversion and power tunnel, spillway tunnel and spillway tunnel, started construction successively.

In July 2005, the special report on dam type comparison of Jiudianxia project passed the expert evaluation organized by China International Consulting Center. Meanwhile, the EIA report, water and soil conservation plan, water intake permit application and construction land pre application of the project have been officially approved by relevant ministries and commissions.

On July 5, 2006, the executive meeting of the State Council deliberated and approved the feasibility study report of Jiudianxia Water Control Project and phase I water diversion project.

On November 22, 2006, Lu Hao, Secretary of the provincial Party committee, announced that the first phase of Jiudianxia Water Control Project and the water diversion project from Taohe River in Gansu Province were fully started.

On April 23, 2007, the water resources and hydropower planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of water resources examined and approved the preliminary design report of Jiudianxia Water Control Project and the first phase water diversion project from Taohe River.

Transportation

Jiudianxia Tibetan ancient highway is a rural highway from zangbawa township government of Zhuoni county to gumawo platform for immigrants. On July 26, 2005, Zhuoni county government organized the completion acceptance of Tibet ancient highway, and invited relevant leaders of Gannan Prefecture to participate in the completion acceptance. Through the spot check of the project acceptance group, the project quality was evaluated as excellent, and the traffic safety facilities were qualified. So far, the Tibet ancient highway in Jiudianxia reservoir area has successfully passed the primary acceptance.

There are still several sections of plank road. There is an ancient castle site in the gorge, which is called qiaodaobao. There are stone caves and niches carved on the cliff nearby, and there are still surviving Buddha statues. There are several stone inscriptions on the stone wall of the plank road. The inscriptions record the historical facts that bridges and stacks were built and destroyed repeatedly in the past dynasties.
