The baicaokou Great Wall at Yanmen pass is one of the few brick covered great walls in Shanxi Province. It is located at the edge of baicaokou village at the junction of Shanyin county and Daixian County in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province. On the right side of the Yanmenguan Tunnel (north exit) on Dayun Expressway, you can see the great wall winding upward. The Great Wall is built on the top of the mountain along the south mountain of the village. The terrain is relatively gentle. The collapse on the west mountain of baicaokou is serious. There are two brick buildings with only ramming mounds. The great wall passes through baicaokou and climbs up Dongshan mountain. From the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, it was originally made of brick, but now most of it is rammed earth. The city wall at the foot of the mountain is of ladder type and well preserved. The brick crenels are built on the rocks at the steep places. The wall from baicaokou east to houling mountain is made of brick, about 10m high on the outside, which is well preserved. There are four brick towers in this section of the Great Wall, two of which are well preserved and the other two collapsed.

Unique scenery
The great wall passes through the peak of houling mountain and goes down the mountain to the north. It is made of bricks to the new Guangwu city in Shanyin. The bricks on the outside side of the city are well preserved, while the bricks on the inside side have been destroyed. There are 22 enemy platforms, four of which are better. There are stone plaques on the front of each enemy platform, engraved with the words "Tianshan", "Xionggao", "kongcheng" and "Jianbian" respectively.
Current situation of baicaokouguan
There is still a pass building and a temporary door. The stone brick pass building is still good. The top crenels have collapsed. There is a door in the west of the building. There is a stone plaque on the front of the door. There are three arrow windows in the north, South and East, and a turtle shaped faucet in the top of the wall in the south, North and West. Below are the new and old Guangwu castles and the tombs of Guangwu, a national cultural relic.
Baicaokou Great Wall is a key cultural relic protection unit in Shanxi Province. The Great Wall in Ming Dynasty is also called neibian. It starts from baicaokou River in the West and ends at xinguangwu village in the East, with a total length of 5964 meters. This section of the Great Wall, which remains today, was built by Li Jingyuan, the censor of the governor capital in 1605. Baicaokou is the North fortress of tangyanmen pass, namely Xixing pass, and xinguangwu is the North fortress of mingyanmen pass, namely Dongxing pass. The Great Wall is built of brick outside and earth inside. It is 8-10 meters high and 4 meters wide above. There are garrison fortresses and enemy towers on the top and secret doors on the bottom. At present, the well preserved dilou include "Zhenjian" and "xiongzao". There are plaques on the floor, all inscribed as "the propitious mid autumn of Wanli Bingwu, Li Jingyuan, the governor, Li Maochun, the Deputy military envoy, Chen Tianjue, the left general, and Pu Xilun, the general of GuanLiang". Most of the enemy towers are built outside the Great Wall, with a width of 10 meters, a depth of 8 meters, and a total height of about 15 meters. Zhuanglulou is built in the middle of the Great Wall. The front and back doors can close the Great Wall. In the section near baicaokou, the original crenels and women's walls were built on the stone mountain. Now there is no wall inside, only the brick crenels, standing majestically on the top of the steep peak of the Qiyan mountain. The secret gate is built in the area where troops can be stationed inside and charge outside. The door is 2 meters high and 1 meter wide. The door is 0 meters away from the outer wall. The top of the Great Wall is paved with three layers of bricks. There are beacon towers and barracks warm houses near the Great Wall. The location of this section of the Great Wall, known as Xingling in history, is the gateway to distinguish the inside and outside and defend the Central Plains.
