Historical evolution

Two predecessors

Jingmen vocational and Technical College

On August 21, 1984, Jingmen Vocational University was established;

On March 15, 1990, Jingmen Vocational University merged with Jingmen radio and Television University and Jingmen teachers' training school to form "Jingmen University". After the merger, the original three universities undertook all kinds of education and training tasks and educational system unchanged;

On June 16, 1998, Jingmen Vocational University changed its name to Jingmen vocational and technical college. On June 23, 1998, Jingmen health school was incorporated into Jingmen vocational and technical college;

On May 16, 2003, Sinopec Jingmen Petrochemical school was integrated into Jingmen Polytechnic;

In April 2006, Jingmen vocational and technical college was awarded the "excellent" grade in the Ministry of education's higher vocational talent training level evaluation.

 

Shayang Teachers College

In February 1956, Shayang normal school was established under the jurisdiction of Jingzhou;

From 1966 to 1976, the school encountered the "Cultural Revolution" and suffered a major setback. In 1966, it was forced to suspend classes. In 1971, it resumed enrollment and opened one-year and two-year professional classes;

In 1983, the prefecture level Jingmen City was established, and the school was under the leadership of Jingmen City;

In 1993, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, the school carried out the "experiment of training primary school teachers with junior college degree", running a school jointly with the former Jingzhou teachers college;

On March 28, 2000, the Ministry of Education issued a document approving the establishment of Shayang normal college on the basis of Shayang normal college.

 

Merging schools

In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Jingmen vocational and technical college and Shayang Teachers College merged to form Jingchu Institute of technology;

In 2014, the University became one of the first batch of pilot schools for transformation and development of local undergraduate universities in Hubei Province;

In 2015, the school became the first batch of "Ministry of education ZTE ICT production and education integration innovation base".
