Basic information
Zhaga temple is full of Zen spirit, which looms between green pines and green cypresses. The most amazing thing is that there are six words of different sizes on the rocks of Shenshan mountain: hum, Ma, Ni, Bai, MI, moo, Muyang and the moon. These magical phenomena make people who swim across the mountain sigh. There is also a natural karst cave with a radius of several tens of feet. The cave is wide and narrow from time to time. There are stalagmites, stone pillars and stone figures in different shapes.
Sacrifice to mountain god
According to the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, the year of sheep in every 12 years of the Tibetan calendar is the year of Chaoshan Dharma Assembly in zhaga Shenshan, Litang County. There are not only local people but also religious people from other counties in the Chaoshan Festival, with tens of thousands of people. Religious people from all over the country take tents and live on the mountain for a few days. They believe that: the good and bad luck of the years, the existence of pestilence, the advent of ice, hail, frost, snow and disasters, all have a direct relationship with the mountain god. After the eminent monks appointed the holy mountain, people built stone mounds (commonly known as "manidui" or "Chake") with scriptures to worship the mountain god. Its shape is generally quadrangular, small at the top and large at the bottom, about 2-3 meters high. At the top of manidui, a wooden pole is inserted, on which a flag of Sutra is hung. On the front of the pole, a niche is made of mud and stone. On the flat stone slab inside the niche, there are painted or carved statues of mountain gods, which are hideous in shape.
On the day of sacrificing to the mountain god, people dressed luxuriantly and carried two flags of scriptures printed on red, yellow, green and white cloth. The branches of cypress trees and Zanba come from all directions to the holy mountain where the mountain gods are worshipped. The prayer flags are hung on the stone mounds or in the jungle. Then burn the cypress branches, sprinkle a spoonful of Zanba on them, and suddenly smoke around. People sprinkle highland barley with their hands, recite scriptures, and circle the stone pile several times to sacrifice the mountain god.
Poetry Day: the spirit flag is planted on the top of the mountain, and the cypress leaves burn incense and smoke green. After the sacrifice, the mountain god came back late, and the Tibetan songs sang to each other in the sunset.
Facing Haizi (a high mountain lake), people still recite scriptures and circle around Haizi. It is said that according to their piety to the mountain gods and their fate, we can also see various landscapes in Haizi.
Other information
In addition to the above-mentioned "sacrifice to the mountain god", there is a special activity in zhaga holy mountain: drilling a cave to distinguish between good and evil, that is, people who have done good deeds can pass no matter how narrow they are in the cave, while people who have done evil deeds will be stuck no matter how wide they are. Whether it is effective or not, we have to try it in person. In recent years, the activities of turning mountains have also increased the content of guaranteeing the gods not to kill and steal, which makes the pure plateau more pure and effectively promotes the harmony between man and nature.
