Xuchang Guandi temple is one of the eight Guandi temples in China. In May 2013, it was listed in the list of the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
It was built in 1689 in the 28th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The cultural relics in the temple show the later generations' respect for Guan Yu's spirit of "loyalty, righteousness, benevolence and bravery", especially the worship of Guan Yu and Cao Cao in the main hall, which has become a unique cultural phenomenon.
The existing ancient buildings cover an area of 11026 square meters. The main buildings along the central axis are Mountain Gate, instrument gate, rolling shed, main hall, spring and Autumn Pavilion; on both sides of the central axis are bell tower, Drum Tower, east-west hall, east-west wing room, etc., forming the architectural layout of three entrance courtyard, nine halls and one Pavilion. The whole building layout is rigorous and complete, solemn and elegant. There are more than 50 Ming and Qing steles in Guandi temple, which provide important historical materials for the study of the culture of the Three Kingdoms.

Guandi temple in Xuchang is a temple built to commemorate the robe picking of Baling bridge in Guanyu.
