China Agricultural University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education, jointly built with the Ministry of agriculture, the Ministry of water resources and Beijing. It is a key construction University of the national "211 Project" and "985 Project". It has been selected into the "2011 plan", "111 plan" and excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan. It is a vice ministry level university with a graduate school.
The school originated from the Agricultural University of Beijing University, which was founded in 1905. It is the birthplace of China's modern agricultural higher education. In September 1995, with the approval of the State Council, Beijing Agricultural University merged with Beijing Agricultural Engineering University to establish a new China Agricultural University.

Three sources
1、 Agricultural College of Peking University
On December 6, 1905, the Ministry of Agricultural Sciences was set up in Beijing University.
On May 3, 1912, the first year of the Republic of China, the Capital University was renamed Peking University, and the Agricultural University was one of the branch universities.
In March 1914, the University of Agricultural Sciences was transformed into Beijing Agricultural School under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of education.
In March 1923, Beijing Agricultural College was changed into national Beijing Agricultural University.
In August 1927, the school changed its name to national Beijing Normal University.
In November 1928, Beijing Agricultural University was transformed into the Agricultural College of National Peking University.
In August 1937, the Xi'an temporary University was formed by Peking University, Peking Normal University and Beiyang Institute of technology, and the Agricultural College of Peking University was changed to Xi'an Forestry University. In December of the same year, the puppet provisional government of Peking merged Peking University and Peking University to establish the "National Peking University" with an agricultural college.
In April 1938, Xi'an United University was changed into northwest United University, and Linda agricultural college was changed into northwest United University Agricultural College.
On April 20, 1939, the national Northwest Agricultural College was established by the amalgamation of Northwest Agricultural College and northwest agricultural and Forestry College.
In November 1945, the Ministry of education set up a temporary buxiban in Peking University, which made the former Japanese puppet "Peking University" agricultural college the fourth sub class.
In July 1947, the buxiban of the University ended, and the fourth sub class was merged into the Agricultural College of Peking University.
In July 1949, the Department of agriculture of Furen University was incorporated into the Agricultural College of Peking University.
2、 Agricultural College of Tsinghua University
In 1921, Tsinghua University set up agricultural courses and established agricultural science.
In August 1928, Tsinghua University changed its name to Tsinghua University, and agricultural courses were closed.
In the autumn of 1934, the Agricultural Research Institute of Tsinghua University was established.
In the spring of 1936, the Agricultural College of Tsinghua University was established in Changsha.
In October 1938, the plant physiology group was added.
In May 1946, the Agricultural Research Institute was changed into the Agricultural College of Tsinghua University; on September 30 of the same year, the Agricultural College moved to the former civil engineering college.
3、 Agricultural College of North China University
In May 1939, Yan'an Institute of natural sciences was established. In December of the same year, the Institute was transformed into Yan'an Academy of natural sciences, which has the nature of a university.
In August 1940, four departments of physics, chemistry, geology, mineral resources and biology were set up in the Academy of natural sciences.
In 1941, under the leadership of the Central Committee of culture and culture, the Academy of natural sciences.
In 1943, the Academy of natural sciences merged into Yan'an University and became an independent college under the leadership of the border region government.
In June 1944, the Department of biology was changed to the Department of agriculture.
In 1947, the Department of agriculture of Yan'an University was incorporated into North University and the Agricultural College of North University was established.
In 1948, North China University and North China United University merged into North China University, and the former agricultural college of North China University was changed into the Agricultural College of North China University.

In September 1949, the Agricultural College of Peking University, the Agricultural College of Tsinghua University and the Agricultural College of North China University merged to form Beijing Agricultural University.
On April 8, 1950, the University was officially named Beijing Agricultural University.
In 1954, it was listed as one of the six key universities in China by the State Council.
On November 26, 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.
In 1984, Beijing Agricultural University was listed as one of the ten key institutions of higher learning by the State Council.

1、 Mechanical farming school of the central Ministry of Agriculture
In August 1948, the people's Government of North China held a tractor training class in Jiheng farm.
On April 1, 1950, based on the training class, Shuangqiao mechanized farming school of the central Ministry of agriculture was founded.
2、 North China Agricultural Machinery College
In December 1949, North China Agricultural Machinery College was established.
3、 Department of agricultural machinery, Beijing Agricultural University
In October 1949, Beijing Agricultural University was established with the Department of agricultural machinery.
In the autumn of 1951, the Department of agricultural machinery of Beijing Agricultural University began to run jointly with North China Agricultural Machinery College.
4、 Pingyuan Agricultural College
In July 1951, Pingyuan agricultural college was established, with three departments of Agronomy, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, forestry and specialized cotton classes.
Merger development
On October 15, 1952, Beijing Institute of mechanization agriculture was established.
In January 1953, about 100 cadres, teachers and students of Pingyuan agricultural college were merged into Beijing agricultural mechanization college; in July of the same year, the college was renamed Beijing agricultural mechanization college; in the same year, the agronomy Department of Pingyuan agricultural college was merged into Northeast Agricultural College.
In 1954, the school was led by the Ministry of education.
In 1957, the school was under the leadership of the Ministry of agriculture.
In the autumn of 1959, the Cadre College of tractor station of the Ministry of agriculture was established in Beijing agricultural mechanization college.
In 1960, Beijing College of agricultural mechanization was listed as one of the 64 key universities in China.
In 1965, the school was under the leadership of the eighth Ministry of machinery.
In 1970, the school moved to Chongqing, Sichuan Province. During this period, the name of the school was changed to Sichuan Agricultural Machinery College, Chongqing Agricultural Machinery College and North China agricultural mechanization college.
In 1979, the school moved back to its original site, restored its name and belonged to the Ministry of agricultural machinery.
In April 1982, the school was transferred to the Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries.
In October 1985, the University changed its name to Beijing Agricultural Engineering University.
Merger development
In September 1995, Beijing Agricultural University and Beijing Agricultural Engineering University merged to form China Agricultural University.
In 1998, the University was listed in the national "211 Project" universities.
In 2003, China Agricultural University and Yantai Municipal People's government signed a joint school running agreement to jointly build Yantai campus of China Agricultural University.
In 2004, the University was listed in the national "985 Project" universities.
In 2006, it was selected as the National College Students' cultural quality education base.
In 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Yantai Research Institute of China Agricultural University was established.
In May 2012, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education.
