Friendship bridge
Friendship bridge, the starting point of the western end of China's national highway 318 (Shanghai Friendship Bridge), is located on the boundary river between China and Nepal near Zhangmu port in Nyalam County, Xigaze Prefecture, Tibet, with an altitude of 1800 meters. It was built in 1964.
In June 2018, the government of the people's Republic of China and the government of Nepal, In order to promote the further development of friendly relations between the two countries, facilitate personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and at the same time, considering that the original friendship bridge was seriously damaged by Nepal's "4.25" earthquake and could not pass normally, it was decided to rebuild the friendship bridge between Zhangmu Town, Nyalam County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region of China and dadubani village, barchak District, new capital of Nepal.
Friendship bridge is a reinforced concrete bridge across the East and West, connecting the China Nepal highway from Yangbajing to Kathmandu, Nepal. The bridge is about 8 meters wide and 45 meters long. There are low railings on both sides of the bridge, which are more exquisite and beautiful, solemn and generous under the background of the Pentium river and dense forest. On the Chinese side of the bridge, there is a friendship room and an octagonal friendship Pavilion for the residents and tourists. In the middle of the grass dam beside the pavilion, there is a boy riding on a stone carving of a white elephant. The white elephant draws water from a spring to spray the boy on his back. The shape is lifelike and cute. It is the starting point of the west end of national highway 318, which is very important to enter the inland of China.
