History and Humanities
Jilong mountain was called Lishan in ancient times. The folk took the meaning of "chicken can become a phoenix after a hundred years of cultivation" and "Phoenix does not fall into a land without treasure". Therefore, it was transformed into "phoenix" by chicken and "platform" by cage, also known as "Fengtai Mountain". "Taiping Huanyu Ji" records: "Mahu lake first subsided, an old mother raised a chicken cage to ascend, because it turned into stone. Today's mountain has wings, shaped like a chicken cage, because of its name. This kind of legend gives the mountain a layer of mystery, so it becomes a famous Buddhist and Taoist Holy Land in Jiangbei. As early as the early Tang Dynasty, there were temples and nunneries all over the mountain, with cornices, rows of stars and incense. Du Guangting, a famous Taoist at the end of the Tang Dynasty, called Jilong mountain "the forty second blessed place in the world", where he recruited disciples and preached. Poets, poets, scholars and celebrities of the past dynasties took advantage of this opportunity to browse and express their feelings. Famous poets, such as Li Sicong of the Tang Dynasty, Yang Wanli of the Song Dynasty, he Zhu, Wang Yuanhan of the Ming Dynasty, etc., all left poems to recite after touring the mountains.
