Miqiongri temple was built in the early 12th century by raokaquji living Buddha. Miqiongri temple is about 4700 meters above sea level. Located in Chengguan District, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, it is a Tibetan Buddhist nun Temple of Gelug Sect.
history
In the 15th century, zongkaba practiced at the top of the Sera Monastery and predicted that miqiongri monastery would be relocated. At that time, the abbot of miqiongri temple was Jizun kaqubaim, the reincarnated spirit child of raokaquji living Buddha. When the temple was moved, the monks began to chant sutras. Soon a "nale" bird flew in, picked up a magic weapon and flew away. It landed on a big black stone on the hillside of miqiongri mountain. Therefore, miqiongri temple was built at the address indicated by the bird. Since zongkaba's disciple kongrujianshu sambudang, the abbot of sera temple, miqiongri temple has become the subordinate Temple of sera temple. The nuns of miqiongri temple have a tradition of practicing yoga since ancient times. In the past, miqiongri temple, which was isolated from the top of the mountain, was often attacked by thieves and hooligans in winter. The nuns raised Tibetan mastiff, piled up large stone mounds, patrolled and fired guns at night to protect the temple and defend themselves. There was once a story about a nun in miqiongri Temple falling down and three hooligans. The largest number of pilgrims come to Tibet on June 10 every year, when the temple will invite people to perform Tibetan opera. The acting place is on the huge stone platform outside the temple, and below the platform is the Grand Canyon. There used to be a sutra hall, a pagoda and a small building in miqiongri temple. In its heyday, more than 200 nuns practiced here. During the cultural revolution, the temple was destroyed. In 1987, eight old nuns restored the temple with money from the alms. Around 2007, the person in charge of the temple was Danzhen Zhuoma, 30 years old, from gongka, Motuo County. In 1991, she came to miqiongri temple to become a monk. After the reconstruction of the temple, there used to be more than 100 nuns, but by 2007 there were only more than 50 nuns. This number has been approved by the people's government. If a new family is taken in, it must be approved by the people's government. The name of the people's Management Committee of the temple is "the people's Management Committee of miqiongri temple, Najin Township, Chengguan District, Lhasa City". A seven member group elected by more than 50 nuns is responsible for temple affairs. All monks and nuns were asked for their opinions on the major events of the temple, and then decided by a seven member group, and finally submitted to all monks and nuns for further discussion. In 2004, the temple built a 4-5 km long access road to the temple with the money obtained from several collective activities. Miqiongri temple is a part of sera temple. The lamas who preach the sermons mainly come from sera temple. After preaching the sermons, the lamas will walk back to sera Temple along the mountain road. The important religious affairs of the temple will also consult the eminent monks of Drepung temple. In addition to the Lama's preaching, nuns can also preach. Regardless of their age or length of time at home, nuns can become teachers as long as they have a good understanding of the Scriptures. If women want to become nuns, they should invite qualified nuns from temples to be teachers. They should learn Tibetan first, then "karoma" Sutra (Manjusri Sutra), and then "Zhuoma duiba" Sutra (Tara Sutra). In addition, you need to read "Lama Quba", "molonglangji", "jovajiuzhu", "zhuomalangdangmani" and other Buddhist scriptures. You need to recite at least 500 pages of Buddhist scriptures. Finally, you need to pass the examination of relevant scriptures. Then you need to ask the famous living Buddha to shave his head, and then vow to convert to the three treasures of Buddha, Dharma and monk. Women must be in good health, believe in Buddhism, strictly abide by the commandments, and seriously study scriptures before they can enter the temple. Nuns usually do not depend on the fate for a living, but rely on home support. Everyone is responsible for their own daily miscellaneous and food expenses. The daily chores of the temple are on duty by all monks and nuns in turn, with a rotation of three months.
