Yali middle school in Changsha is one of the eight key middle schools listed in the first batch in Hunan Province, a national civilized unit, a national experimental school of modern educational technology, and a model general senior high school in Hunan Province.
Yali middle school in Changsha was founded in 1906, initially named "Yali school"; in 1920, it was renamed "Yali University"; in 1929, Yali middle school was restored; in 1951, it was renamed "Jiefang middle school"; in 1952, it was transformed into the fifth middle school in Changsha; in 1985, it was renamed "Yali middle school".
As of September 2014, Changsha Yali middle school covers an area of 63000 square meters, with more than 60 teaching classes and 3320 students.
In June 2016, a public archaeological activity of "going into the campus tomb decryption" was held in Changsha Yali middle school. The cultural relics department announced that a total of 28 ancient tombs were found in the school's sports ground, covering more than 1000 years from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Song Dynasty.
Historical evolution
At the beginning of the school
At the beginning of 1901, a small number of Yale alumni proposed to set up educational science and technology in China.
On June 22, 1902, the association of elegant rites was founded.
In June 1906, we rented a number of private houses in xipailou as school buildings and opened "Yali University".
In 1907, "Yali hospital" (actually clinic) was set up by renting houses opposite the school.
In 1914, the University was established as an undergraduate.
In July 1914, the association of elegant rites and Hunan society of education and mass education jointly established Xiangya Medical School ("Xiangya" means Hunan elegant rites).
In 1916, the first phase of mayuanling new school building project was completed, and the College moved to the new site.
In 1920, he merged with Xiangya Medical preparatory department. At this time, the scale of the University was gradually complete, with three subjects of liberal arts, science, and pre medical, so it was officially named "Yali University".
In the winter of 1926, the school was closed because of the political situation of the great revolution until 1928.
In 1928, schools in Changsha were closed down and resumed.
Tortuous development
In September 1929, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Yali middle school was restored.
In 1937, Wang Guangding and Tan Anqi went to Yuanling to organize Yali Yuanling branch.
In 1951, the school was renamed "Jiefang middle school".
In the summer of 1952, Yali middle school was transformed into Changsha No.5 Middle School.
In June 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began, the school closed.
In 1968, the school resumed classes.
Reform and prosperity
At the beginning of 1985, Changsha No.5 Middle School resumed its 35 year contact with the American Yali Association.
On August 25, 1985, Changsha No.5 Middle School was officially approved by Hunan Provincial Department of education to be renamed "Yali middle school".
In 1992, Changsha Yali middle school was awarded the plaque of "key middle school in Hunan Province" by Hunan Provincial Education Commission.
In August 1992, Hunan Provincial Education Commission approved the opening of "science experimental class" in three key middle schools including Changsha Yali middle school.
In February 1995, the establishment committee of Changsha City determined that Changsha Yali middle school was a public institution at the county level.
In 2002, he founded Changsha Yali boarding school (later renamed Changsha Nanya middle school).
In 2009, Beiya middle school was founded.
In 2010, Changsha Yali Yuhua middle school, Deya middle school and Yiya middle school were founded.
In 2012, Yali experimental middle school was founded.
In 2013, changya middle school and Yali Tianxin middle school were founded.

Hardware facilities
In 1987, the University invested more than 1 million yuan to build a science museum with an area of more than 3500 square meters, which integrates physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, as well as audio-visual and electronic classrooms.
In 1989, a library with a construction area of more than 1700 square meters was built on the site of the original experimental building.
In 1991, a gymnasium (including swimming pool) with complete teaching facilities was built.
In 1995, the original teaching building was decorated with additional floors. The building area increased from 5400 square meters to 7800 square meters, the number of classrooms increased from 42 to 58, and the teachers' houses were built into three dormitory buildings with 140 sets of houses.
On October 31, 2014, the art building was put into use.
As of February 2008, Yali middle school in Changsha has built teaching building, office building, comprehensive building, science museum, library, gymnasium, swimming pool, staff dormitory and other buildings, with 1 football field, 10 outdoor basketball courts, 2 badminton courts, computer network system, satellite receiving closed-circuit television system, wireless voice system, and so on Multimedia aided teaching system and advanced reading room and laboratory.
The experimental instruments for all subjects in the Science Library of the university are all equipped according to the national Class-A key middle school standards. The computer classroom, language classroom and audio-visual classroom are equipped with advanced equipment. The audio-visual teaching network connected with each classroom has been built and used, and the library has a collection of more than 70000 books.

In the 2014 college entrance examination, there were 747 students from Yali middle school in Changsha, with an emphasis rate of 88.3%.
