Soviet Red Army martyrs memorial tower
On August 8, 1945, the former Soviet government declared war on Japan. On the same day, the Soviet Red Army dispatched three front forces to launch an all-round attack on the Japanese Kwantung Army stationed in Northeast China from the East, West and north directions. In the autumn of 1945, after the restoration of Northeast China, in order to commemorate the Soviet Red Army martyrs who died in the Anti Japanese fascist war, the Soviet Army successively built Memorial towers for Soviet Red Army martyrs in Harbin (1945), Changchun (1945), Shenyang (1945), Dalian (1951), Jinzhou and other places.

Changchun
Located in the center of Changchun, the people's square covers an area of more than 10000 square meters. Among the green trees and flowers stands a landmark building - the Soviet Red Army martyrs memorial tower. On August 8, 1945, the government of the former Soviet Union issued a declaration of war against Japan. On the 9th, Comrade Mao Zedong issued a statement entitled "the last war against the Japanese aggressors.". On the same day, the Soviet Red Army dispatched three front forces from the East, West and north to attack the Japanese Kwantung Army at the same time. The Northeast Anti Japanese coalition army cooperated closely with the Soviet army to recover the northeast. According to the instructions and orders of the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army in Yan'an, the Eighth Route Army of Hebei, Liaoning and Liaoning marched into the northeast. In the autumn of 1945, after the restoration of Northeast China, the people of Jilin province built this tower to commemorate the martyrs of the Soviet Red Army who died bravely in support of the Chinese people's Anti Japanese War and the Anti Japanese fascist war, as well as the pilots and martyrs of the Soviet rear Baikal front army who were buried at the site of the tower.
