Yigong Lake: Yigong CuO (cuozhi Lake) in Tibetan is located in Yigong township of Bomi County, with an altitude of 2600 meters and a lake area of about 20 square kilometers. Around 1900, a huge debris flow blocked the Yigong Zangbu River Valley and formed Yigong lake. On April 9, 2000, a large-scale collapse debris flow occurred again in Yigong area, forming a dam. After blocking the Zangbu River Valley in Yigong, the dam burst 63 days later, scouring the original dam and sediment in Yigong lake, and the beautiful Yigong lake will disappear.

Yigong lake is the central area of Yigong National Geopark.

Geologically active

Yigong lake is located in the lower reaches of Yigong river. The lower reaches of Yigong Zangbo and palongzangbo are located in the northern periphery of the great bend of Yarlung Zangbo River. The neotectonic movement centered on Namjagbarwa peak and galabaire peak is very strong. It is an area with very active modern crustal movement and weak geological foundation.

The strong uplift of the terrain makes it the area with the most precipitation and the wettest in the whole Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is also the area where landslides, landslides, avalanches, ice avalanches, debris flows and other mountain disasters occur frequently

Special climate

The warm and humid air of the Indian Ocean flows northward along the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon Palung Zangbo Grand Canyon. Geomorphological characteristics of the valley in Southeast Tibet

Lakes like Yigong lake are not uncommon in Yigong Geopark and Southeast Tibet. There are many lakes in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, such as constellations, but their backgrounds and causes are different. Many lakes in the broad plateau are based on the vast lakes in the early low-altitude environment. During the process of plateau uplift and climate aridity, they gradually shrink and decompose to form, or along some large fault zones, one side rises to form majestic snow peaks, and the other side sinks to form lakes. The lakes in the mountain valleys in Southeast Tibet are mostly formed by the action of glaciers, debris flows or landslides blocking rivers. They are like pearls strung on necklaces, which show the typical geomorphic characteristics of the valley in Southeast Tibet.

From tongmaizhen bridge of Sichuan Tibet highway, it goes up Yigong Zangbu River, 21km to Yigong lake, 2100m above sea level. On April 9, 2000, the landslide raised the water level of Yigong Lake by 60 meters, which led to a great break. Once again, a huge collapse type debris flow occurred in Yigong area, forming a barrier dam, which blocked the Zangbu River Valley of Yigong and broke 63 days later. The original dam and sediment of Yigong Lake were washed down, and the beautiful Yigong lake was about to disappear. The huge landslide, about 3 km wide sand and stone, blocked the main channel of Yigong Tibu, which caused the water level of Yigong lake to rise by 60 meters. At last, it burst and Yigong was reborn with a new attitude.

At 19:59:18.2 on April 9, 2000, a high-speed landslide occurred in zhamunong gully, Zangbu River, Yigong, Bomi County, Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet. The landslide experienced a process of high-level sliding debris flow earth rock water wave debris flow secondary landslide. The duration of the vibration is 6 minutes, and the duration of the maximum amplitude is 2 minutes. The Yigong Zangbu river is blocked and a barrier lake is formed. At the beginning of June, the water of the lake began to flow down along the artificially excavated diversion channel. Due to a large amount of water storage in the reservoir area, the original lake dam was scoured. After the water flow, the Yigong lake has become a smooth channel, and it is about to disappear.

Yigong Lake collapsed and the flood caused serious landslides in Pailong section of Sichuan Tibet highway of G318 national highway. The debris flow flooded, and more than ten kilometers of highway subgrade disappeared. Tongmai bridge was destroyed and G318 national highway was interrupted for three months. Later, Bayi district government built a new "gengzhang Menba nationality township" to accommodate the victims of Pailong Menba nationality township. Even the simple bridge across the Yajiang River in Beibeng Township, Motuo County, was completely destroyed.

On April 9, 2000, I was watching CCTV's focus interview at home when I heard three dull noises. It was dark in less than 10 minutes. It rained heavily that day, and I finally moved to the mountain with the tea house at 10 p.m. The next day when we counted the population, fortunately, there were many of them.

Later, the water rose day by day, and the general's building was more than one story high. I joined the commando team, not only to build temporary simple houses for the old, the weak, the sick and the disabled on the mountain, but also to distribute the relief materials transported by the army by the assault boat to the masses. Sometimes, I also did ideological work for the old and children, telling them that with the party and the government, we would not starve and die. Let us feel gratified that the children are very strong, not a cry, and the elderly cry just feel that such a beautiful hometown will not exist.

What makes me most happy is that 10 days after the flood, the school resumed classes. The children above grade four were transferred to Bayi Town. The students below grade three set up tents on the mountain to go to school. My wife, Baiguo, is a teacher. After she sent our two children to Bomi's relatives, she came back to teach them.

In order to fight a long-term war, we also planted vegetables in the mountains, reducing the pressure of disaster relief for the country.
