Yundingshan site
The only surviving song and Yuan war site in Western Sichuan is a provincial cultural relic protection unit. On Yunding mountain, it is said that Zhuge Liang once stationed troops to guard the pass. In the third year of Chunhu (1243) of the Southern Song Dynasty, Yu Jie, a pacifying and instituting envoy of Sichuan Province, built a defense system here to resist the invasion of the Mongolian army. Yu Jie, together with Hechuan fishing City, Nanchong Qingju City, Cangxi Dahuo city and Wanxian Tiansheng City, was called the "eight pillars" of central Sichuan by the Mongolian army. Because of the mountains, the whole city uses natural cliffs as its constant. At the break, it is connected by T-shaped stacked walls with stone tenons. When the city wall is on a gentle slope, it is added with a "straight wall" to prevent the enemy from approaching. There are eight gates around the mountain city, which are all built on cliffs and scarps. They are high, easy to defend and difficult to attack. In the Southern Song Dynasty, the army and the people garrisoned the city of Yunding for 15 years. After the establishment of the Yuan Dynasty, most of the mountain cities in Sichuan were demolished, but the city was protected by the people in every way, so it was completely preserved. Now, the two gates of the North City and Changning gate are still majestic, and the ruins of the Houzaimen, the Dragon Boat Festival gate, the south city gate and the little east gate can be found. There were also 18 wells and 32 pools dug by the soldiers and civilians at that time.
