Shenkeng Jishun Temple
Shenkeng Jishun temple is located in Shenkeng street, Shenkeng District, Xinbei city. Founded in 1838, it mainly worships "Baoyi doctor" and "Baoyi Zunwang". Baoyi doctor is Zhang Xun, a civil official in the Tang Dynasty; Baoyi Zunwang is Xu Yuan, a military general in the Tang Dynasty; in addition, there are Guandi Shengjun, fudezhen, and six statues from Changhua, Lugang, Beigang, Dounan and Xingang Mazu, an immigrant from Anxi in mainland China, is a hard-working scene on the bar road when he first came to Shenkeng for cultivation. Jishun temple is the spiritual sustenance of the local ancestors of Shenkeng street when they came to Taiwan.
From the 23rd to the 25th day of the first lunar month every year, the Jishun temple in Shenkeng holds a pilgrimage activity to invite six Matsu back to the original Fenxiang temple, while the Jishun Temple prays for spring from the 1st to the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. The most special feature of Jishun temple is the traditional custom of taking "Ding Kou Qian" when holding celebrations. In ancient times, the so-called "Ding Kou Qian" was called "Ding" by men and "Kou" by women. The temple held celebrations mainly in Shenkeng village. Jishun temple is also the only one in many temples in the deep pit to collect Dingkou money, and this unique custom makes Jishun Temple show its important position.
