Lamma Island in Sok Kwu Wan is an island in Hong Kong, also known as Bo Liao Chau. Administratively, it belongs to the outlying islands among the 18 districts of Hong Kong. Lamma Island was called "boaiaozhou" in ancient times. In the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, it was used as a place for foreign ships berthing to Guangzhou for trade. Later, it became "boliaozhou". In modern times, because the island is located in the south of Hong Kong and is shaped like the Chinese character "Ya", it was named "Lamma Island" and gradually replaced the name "Bo Liao Zhou". Sok Kwu Wan, Lamma Island, is located in the southwest of Hong Kong Island, formerly known as Bo Liao Chau. The founding date of the temple is beyond examination. There are three characters in the mene script, namely "Tian Hou Gong". In the temple, there is a Jubao furnace cast in 1826, on which the characters "Jidan in the sixth year of Daoguang" are engraved. There is also a plaque in the eighth year of Daoguang and an ancient bell cast in the last year of Guangxu. In 1907, it was rebuilt for the first time. In 1932, it was rebuilt for the second time.
Thousands of years ago, Lamma Island was inhabited by people, which can be confirmed by the fact that many Neolithic and Tang Dynasty relics have been unearthed on the island by archaeologists.
