Jingdezhen Ceramic college is located in Jingdezhen, the Millennium ceramic capital. It has three campuses. It is the only multi-disciplinary university with ceramic characteristics in China. Once under the former Ministry of light industry, in 1998, it was jointly built by the central and local governments, mainly under the management of Jiangxi Province. It is one of the 31 independent undergraduate art colleges. It is one of the first batch of universities in China to recruit art undergraduates independently and to be qualified to enroll international students with master's and bachelor's degrees under Chinese government scholarships.

Historical development
Jiangxi ceramic school
The school's predecessor was China Ceramics school founded in 1910. In 1912, China Ceramics school was taken over by Jiangxi Province and renamed Raozhou ceramics school in Jiangxi Province. The school system was two years. In 1915, Raozhou ceramic school in Jiangxi Province was renamed as Jiangxi Provincial A-type Industrial school. In 1916, a branch school was set up in Jingdezhen, named Jiangxi Provincial Branch School of B industry, specializing in the teaching of porcelain painting.
During the great revolution from 1926 to 1927, the school affairs of Jingdezhen's Jiangxi Provincial Branch of B industry came to a standstill. The A-type Industrial School in Boyang was changed into Jiangxi kiln school. In 1927, it was renamed Jiangxi ceramic school.
In 1934, the school moved from Boyang to Jiujiang and was renamed Jiangxi Jiujiang ceramic vocational school. In the summer of 1938, due to the Japanese occupation of Jiujiang, the school moved to Jing'an and Pingxiang. On the eve of the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1944, the school moved to Jingdezhen and merged with Fuliang ceramic vocational school founded by the Anti Japanese war. It was called Jiangxi Provincial Ceramic vocational school. Its principal was Wang Li. At the end of 1947, the Ministry of education of the national government officially approved that the ceramic school should be set up as a junior college and still attached to a vocational school. Jiangxi ceramic vocational school was renamed Jiangxi ceramic vocational school.
In 1953, when the national colleges and universities were adjusted, Jiangxi Provincial Ceramic college was abolished. Its ceramic engineering specialty was merged into South China University of chemical technology, and its ceramic art specialty was merged into Jiangxi Normal University. Some teaching staff were also placed in scientific research and production departments. In May and August 1955, Jingdezhen ceramic art school was established.
Jiangxi ceramic school
On January 18, 1958, the people's Committee of Jiangxi Province decided to move 210 students and 13 teachers from Nanchang to Jingdezhen and merge them with Jingdezhen ceramic art school to establish Jiangxi ceramic school. In 1958, the CPC Jingdezhen Municipal Committee decided to establish Jingdezhen Ceramic college, and appointed Hu huailing and other comrades to contact the preparatory matters; on June 28, the first meeting of Jiangxi Provincial People's Committee adopted a decision to change the newly merged Jiangxi ceramic college into Jingdezhen Ceramic college, and appointed Comrade Zhao Yuan, Secretary of the CPC Jingdezhen Municipal Committee, and President of the college; in August, the state issued an order for the ceramic college to accept Poland On October 20, the school held its first opening ceremony.
In April 1959, Jingdezhen Architectural Engineering College (founded on October 15, 1958) was incorporated into the ceramic college, becoming the only civil engineering major in the history of the ceramic college. On August 18, 1966, the Red Guard brigade of ceramic Academy was established. On May 16, 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Jingdezhen Ceramic college was established; on December 28, 1968, Jingdezhen Ceramic college was abolished.
In 1974, Jingdezhen City opened the Jingdezhen ceramic industry school by using part of the original school buildings of the Ceramic Institute. On August 16, 1975, the Ministry of Education issued a notice and the State Council approved the restoration of Jingdezhen Ceramic college. On March 1, 1977, the College held a ceremony to celebrate the resumption and opening of the ceramic college. In the second half of 1978, the college began to be led by the Ministry of light industry and Jiangxi provincial Party committee (mainly by the Ministry of light industry). In 1984, the University became a master's degree granting unit. In 1998, it was jointly built by the central and local governments, mainly under the management of Jiangxi Provincial People's government.
In 2003, it was identified as one of the "31 independent undergraduate art colleges" by the Ministry of education. In November 2005, he received the evaluation organized by the Ministry of education and got good results. In 2009, the University was approved by the degree Office of the State Council as the "construction unit of doctoral degree award project from 2008 to 2015". In 2011, the university successfully passed the mid-term inspection of doctoral degree awarding project construction units and two doctoral degree awarding centers of materials science and engineering and design organized by the degree Office of the State Council. In July 2013, it was added as a doctoral degree awarding unit by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
Jingdezhen Ceramic University
In March 2016, the Ministry of Education approved the renaming of Jingdezhen Ceramic College as Jingdezhen Ceramic University.
In June 2017, it was recognized by the Ministry of education as "the second batch of national model universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform".
In February 2018, it was selected as one of the first batch of mass entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration bases in Jiangxi Province. In July, it was rated as a national university with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship by the Ministry of education.
On April 24, 2019, the unveiling ceremony of Shangyu Advanced Research Institute of ceramics of Jingdezhen Ceramic University was held in Shangyu science and technology innovation center.
