Features of scenic spots
Keelung, an important port in the northern part of Taiwan, has been invaded by foreign powers for hundreds of years. The Qing government built many fortresses here to defend against foreign aggression. Dawulun fort is located in Anle District, northwest of Keelung. It is located on dawulun mountain, 231 meters above lover lake, behind Waimushan fishing port. Because of its dangerous terrain, it has become an important stronghold to guard the west side of Keelung port. The main firing angles of the fort include the northeast, North and West of Keelung port. In addition, there is an observation station at the north end of the fort, which is used to observe the target in wartime. During the Opium War in the 18th century and the Sino French war in the 19th century, the Qing government sent heavy troops to garrison. Especially in the Sino French war, only Taiwan defeated the French in the battlefield, and the fort played an excellent result. In those days, when Japan wanted to take over Taiwan, it was afraid of the garrison of Keelung fort and made a special detour to land by the coast of Gongliao. Today's Fort looks like it was rebuilt by Xianxin during the Japanese occupation. Although it has lost its military use, it still retains its rich historical value and is listed as a national second-class historic site.
Before the lifting of martial law, dawulun mountain used to be a military control area, so the fort sites were well preserved, including the gate footpath of the barracks, the cave barracks, the East Fort, the North Fort, the South Fort, the bomb shelter, and the reservoir. No matter the scale and shape, or the building materials, they all kept the original appearance, but the old four cannons no longer existed, leaving only the base, which reminds people of the fierce war in those years. In addition, the fort area is surrounded by the roots of trees, flowers and plants. Although it is slightly desolate, it also adds a bit of ancient flavor. The castle tunnel made of bluestone, which is surrounded by the fort, is still accessible. The whole park is quiet and the trees are green. Now wedding dress companies often come here to take pictures, which adds romantic style. Dawulun Fort overlooks lover Lake in the west, dawulun Bay in the north, Keelung port and the East China Sea in the East, and the beautiful scenery of Keelung Island, Waimushan fishing village, badouzi and the north coast. It is a good place to enjoy the scenery.
