The fort was built by Liu Mingchuan in the 9th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It played an important defensive role in the Sino French war and the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895. It is one of the famous ancient battlefields in Keelung. It has been listed as a class III historic site. Now only the command post and the fort seat are left for people to recall the fierce war in the past.

The gun base faces northeast and is facing the port of Keelung. It has the momentum of being invincible. Now it is listed as the third level historic site in Taiwan and Fujian.

Shiqiuling is located in the south end of Keelung City, on the North Keelung highway tunnel, connecting Keelung mountain and Hushan mountain, and is concave. It is the most internal defensive fort of Keelung port, but it has the advantage of convenient location and good vision to control the whole port. It is not only an important stronghold to control Keelung, but also an important task to prevent the enemy from entering the Taipei basin. In the ninth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the Qing government built the fort here. During the Sino French war in the Vietnam incident, the French company attacked Taiwan and broke through the natural danger of Haimen. The Qing leader was defeated and defended shiqiuling, which was not occupied by the French because of the dangerous terrain. Now it is listed as the third level historic site, known as Shiling zayun.

In August 1884, France sent a naval fleet to occupy Keelung. After nine months of fierce fighting, the French army suffered heavy casualties. These French officers and soldiers and mercenaries who died of war or other diseases were buried opposite the Ersha Bay fort on Zhongzheng road. They were also the only remains of the French army's Beach landing during the Qing French war a hundred years ago.

Driving: get off the freeway from Keelung interchange, drive to the mountain area along Xingzhong Yilu Aiyi Chenggong qiaoshiqiu Road, reach Ping'an palace parking lot at the end, and then reach shiqiuling fort.

Hitchhike: take bus No. 501 in Keelung City, get off at Renwu Road, follow the road sign and go straight to Minle road. You can get there in a few minutes.
