Qinghai University is located in the northern suburb of Xining City, the capital of Qinghai Province. It is a "211 Project" university supported by the state, supported by Tsinghua University, and jointly constructed by the Ministry of education and Qinghai Province. Historical evolution

Before the merger

Qinghai University, formerly known as Qinghai Institute of technology, was founded in 1958.

In November 1960, Qinghai Institute of technology, Qinghai Academy of agriculture and animal husbandry, Qinghai Medical College and Qinghai University of Finance and economics merged into Qinghai University.

At the beginning of the cultural revolution, Qinghai University was abolished. In 1971, it was restored to Qinghai University of industry and agriculture.

In October 1997, Qinghai animal husbandry and veterinary college was incorporated.

In 1999, it was identified as a key university in the province by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.

In 2000, it was identified as one of the key universities in the western region supported by the state.

In January 2001, Qinghai Academy of agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Qinghai Academy of animal husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, and Qinghai vocational and Technical College of Finance and economics were reorganized. In 2012, Qinghai University was selected into the national "comprehensive strength improvement project of universities in central and Western China".
