Harbin Normal University

In 1951, Harbin Xingzhi normal school was divided into Songjiang normal college and Harbin Normal College.

In 1952, Songjiang normal college and Harbin Normal College merged into Songjiang normal college.

In 1953, Songjiang normal college was renamed Harbin normal college again, which belongs to the Ministry of education.

In May 1956, Harbin Normal College was expanded into Heilongjiang normal college; in July of the same year, the Ministry of Education approved to rename Heilongjiang Normal College as Harbin Normal College.

In 1959, Heilongjiang Sucheng normal college was abolished and merged into Harbin Normal College.

In 1961, Heilongjiang Normal University of industry and agriculture was incorporated into Harbin Normal University.

In 1964, Harbin Institute of art was incorporated into Harbin Normal University.

In 1980, Harbin Normal University changed its name to Harbin Normal University.

In May 1981, Harbin Normal University was designated as a provincial key normal university by the Ministry of education.

In 1982, the University obtained the right to confer master's degree.

In 1990, the University was established as a key university by Heilongjiang provincial government.

In 1998, the University became a doctoral degree awarding unit.

In 2001, Heilongjiang Nongken normal college and Hulan normal college were merged into Harbin Normal University; in the same year, the main body of the College moved to No.1 Shida Road, Limin Economic Development Zone, Harbin.

In 2002, Heilongjiang material workers University and Heilongjiang material school were merged into Harbin Normal University.

In September 2005, the University passed the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of education with "excellent" results.

In 2010, Acheng Campus (Acheng College) was abolished and merged into Jiangnan campus; in the same year, the school assigned the three major departments of art to Jiangnan campus and established the Conservatory of music, Academy of fine arts and media respectively.

In 2014, Hulan Campus (College of basic education) moved back to the main campus, Songbei campus of Harbin Normal University.

In November 2017, the University was awarded the first national civilized campus honorary title.

In February 2018, the University was selected as a high-level university in Heilongjiang Province and a construction university and discipline with advantages and characteristics.

In January 2019, the University was selected as the pilot University of the Ministry of education for the comprehensive reform of "three complete education".

In July 2019, the school of Marxism was selected into the third batch of national key Marxist colleges.

In January 2020, 12 majors (ideological and political education, pedagogy, physical education, Chinese language and literature, English, Russian, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, geographical science, musicology, radio and television editing and guidance, fine arts) were approved as the national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites.
