Lei Zu Memorial Hall
Leizu memorial hall is located on Xiling mountain at the east entrance of Xiling Gorge. It is a Leizu Memorial Hall in memory of the mother of the Chinese nation. Leizu temple is a memorial building, covering an area of 1217.27 square meters. It looks like three stories from the outside, but actually has four stories. It has multi-storey double eaves with sharp edges and corners. It is 26.53 meters high from the bottom to the top. There are 24 groups of wind chimes, hanging up angles, fluttering with the wind and sounding outside the sky.
Introduction to scenic spots
The first floor is the hall of Leizu. At the top of the hall, there are exquisite and magnificent dragon and phoenix patterns, under which there are 8 groups of 16 Dougong and 28 Danfeng, representing the Chinese people all over the world. Stepping into the big threshold and looking up, you can see the peony, which symbolizes the prosperity of the Chinese nation; the painted lotus root overflows with fragrance, which represents the noble character of the Chinese people. In the middle of the hall, there is a statue of Leizu, which is 6.3 meters high. It is based on the image of Leizu drawn before Ming Dynasty and recreated by Chongqing Academy of fine arts. Leizu was drawing silk with a cocoon in his hand. Two maids, one holding a golden shuttle, the other offering silk. Leizu is kind and dignified, just like he is teaching people silkworm art.
On the second floor is Lei Zuye exhibition. In the four sections of "human Leizu", "pre silkworm Leizu", "Xiling silk has a long history" and "Xiling holy relic", we will see Yichang scholars, experts and practical workers who have made great achievements in the research work of Leizu topic and Xiling textual research for more than ten years. They corrected Li Daoyuan, the author of shuijingzhu, who mistakenly engraved "Xiyang" in Huangzhou as "Xiling" and Zhang Shoujie and Xu Guang, the literati of Tang Dynasty, who mistakenly quoted and annotated "Shiling" in the notes of Shiji, with a scientific attitude of seeking truth from facts and using facts as evidence, thus confirming once again the historical status of Yichang as an ancient Xiling.
Wave net
On the third floor is the singing and dancing hall, which lets people get involved in the wave of joy and integrate into the music of "Ode to Leizu". The singing and dancing performances of picking mulberry, weaving silk, meeting and seeing again will lead people from ancient times to reality. In the cheerful and emotional music, people can't help but go to Leizu and offer flowers, expressing the Chinese people's piety to their ancestors.
On the fourth floor, you will see the sign of "illegal view". The "illegal building" is low and hard to see. The Leizu memorial has a unique view of the illegal building. In the illegal building, you can enjoy the wonderful scenery of "looking up at the Three Gorges, overlooking Gezhou, the 40 best sceneries, and the Xiling mountains and waters are the best in the world". You can also see the footprints of Yichang from the ancient Xiling to the modern civilization.
Down from the illegal building, through the huofenghuang Xumi temple, through Taoli forest and Guihua forest, you can see the "ancient dragon cellar" here, and you can also see the pottery experts teaching you the pottery making skills with modern electric kilns, revealing the secrets of ancient pottery.
Today, Leizu memorial hall has become an educational position to carry forward excellent traditional culture and promote scientific civilization. When people approach the square in front of the museum, the Lei Zu Memorial Hall and the statues of the Yellow Emperor and Lei Zu will come into view. Up the stairs, the double Pavilion Pavilion style stele gallery will open up to you, and the inscriptions will tell you the history of the ages. Walking out of the stele Gallery, on the left side of the temple stands the handwriting of Lei Zu, the mother of the Chinese nation, written by Lei Jieqiong as a national leader in 1994. Standing on the right is a monument with the character of Yifang temple, which annotates Leizu as a folk temple and a temple for ancestor worship with the quotation of Shuowen Jiezi.
Historical allusions
It is recorded in historical records of the five emperors that "the Yellow Emperor lived in the hill of Xuanyuan and married the daughter of Xiling for Leizu. Leizu was the imperial concubine of the Yellow Emperor, who gave birth to two sons. After that, there was a world: one was Xuanqi, which was Qingyang, and Qingyang came down to live in the river; the other was Changyi, which came down to live like water. Chang Yi married the daughter of the Shushan family and said, "Chang Pu was born in Gaoyang. Gaoyang has holy virtue." Yichang belongs to the territory of ancient Xiling state. It is the central area of Xiling tribe distribution, and is naturally the hometown of Leizu, the daughter of Xiling. In today's Xiling Xiakou scenic spot in Yichang, there are Leizu relics everywhere in the Xiling mountain, Leizu cave by the ancient river, Xuanyuan cave and xuanxiao cave on huangniuyan. Leizu taught people silk reeling, and established a brilliant career. From generation to generation, the people of Xiling have honored Leizu as the silkworm mother. Every year, on the 15th day of the third month of the lunar calendar, on the birthday of Leizu, a temple fair is held to offer sacrifices.
Leizu combined with the Yellow Emperor to unify the great cause of China. She worked hard day and night and devoted herself to it. She died in front of Leizu peak in Hengshan Mountain, Nanyue, on the way to her death because of her hard work. The Yellow Emperor granted her the title of "ancestor god" and "Tao God", and people also respected her as the patron saint of sericulture and textile industry.
The holy land of Leizu is Xiling mountain. As early as the Song Dynasty, it was inscribed as a historic site in xiazhou. In the Ming Dynasty, Xiling mountain was already a towering ancient wood, and Xiling mountain temple had formed a considerable scale at that time.
Ancient Xiling mountain is a sacred place for worshiping Leizu, the daughter of Xuanyuan Yellow Emperor's imperial concubine Xiling. The ancestral temple on Xiling mountain was destroyed by the Japanese aggressor's artillery fire in June 1940. The merciless history records the blood feud of the land being ravaged, the people being slaughtered and the ancestral temples being bombed, and gives us the warning that "if we are backward, we will be beaten" that we should always remember.
With the reform and opening up and the prosperity of the national movement, Yichang people put forward the motion of restoring the scenic spot of Xiling mountain and establishing the Leizu Memorial Hall as early as the end of 1980s after in-depth research. After entering the 1990s, the research on the region of Xiling and the women of Xiling has become more and more in-depth, and full discussions have been carried out in newspapers and magazines, forming a good idea of "letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend" The situation has reached a win-win situation in which the more arguments there are, the better the opponent will be. On the basis of full discussion and extensive solicitation of opinions, the construction plan of Xiling scenic spot was improved, and the ground was officially broken in February 1993. In July 1994, Leizu temple, the first phase project of Xiling mountain scenic spot, was completed.
After the completion of the first phase of Leizu Temple project, the first national Leizu culture seminar jointly organized by China Yanhuang Culture Research Association, Hubei Yanhuang Culture Research Association and Yichang municipal people's government was held in Yichang. More than 60 scholars and experts from Beijing, Hunan, Sichuan and Hubei gathered in Xiling mountain to deeply study Leizu from different disciplines, explore silk culture, and make a lot of contributions The historical status of Yichang as an ancient Western mausoleum has been confirmed eloquently.
