School history

In September 1983, the first Congress of Returned Overseas Chinese and their families in Jiangmen City adopted the proposal on preparing for the establishment of Jiangmen overseas Chinese University; in November, the eighth session of Jiangmen people's Congress unanimously approved the proposal to establish a university in Jiangmen.

In January 1984, the provincial government agreed to establish Wuyi University; in March, the municipal Party committee and government of Jiangmen established the "Wuyi University Preparation Committee".

On October 7, 1985, the State Education Commission and the State Planning Commission approved the establishment of Wuyi University.

In September 1987, the Ministry of adult education was established.

In March 1988, it was approved to set up night University and enrolled in adult higher education that year.

In 1987, he cooperated with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to train postgraduates.

In May 1990, with the approval of the State Education Commission, the university has the right to confer bachelor's degree.

In October 1992, the Teaching Committee was established.

In March 1993, the State Education Commission announced that Wuyi University was one of the first batch (210) Universities in China to receive foreign students; in May, the university added transportation system engineering, changed the basic course department to the Department of mathematics and physics, and established the Ministry of physical education, computing center and teaching center. In the same year, he began to receive overseas Chinese students and international students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

In 1996, after the evaluation of the State Education Commission, it became a qualified undergraduate teaching unit.

In 1998, it became a master's degree awarding unit.

In 2008, the undergraduate teaching level evaluation was rated as excellent level.

In 2016, Wuyi University was approved as one of the first batch of transformation Pilot Universities in Guangdong Province, and became an Undergraduate University jointly built by Guangdong Province and Jiangmen province.

In November 2017, Wuyi University was added as a provincial and municipal high-level university of science and technology. The Provincial Department of education signed an agreement with Jiangmen municipal government to invest 2.1 billion yuan (the provincial finance will arrange a special subsidy of 600 million yuan, and Jiangmen municipal government will invest 1.5 billion yuan) to support Wuyi University to build a high-level university of science and technology.
