Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge in Chongqing is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River between the two intersections of Chongqing and Nanping in the main urban area of Chongqing. The structure of the bridge is a half through non thrust concrete-filled steel tube tied arch bridge.

Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge is a river crossing channel connecting Yuzhong District and Nan'an District in Chongqing, China. It is located on the Yangtze River channel and is a part of the main road in the north of Chongqing.
Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge started construction on December 28, 2003;
The closure was completed on December 31, 2006;
It was put into operation on October 19, 2007.
Caiyuanba bridge starts from Xiangyang tunnel in the north, crosses Yangtze River Waterway in the upper and Dashi interchange in the south. The line is 7 km long and the main bridge is 800 m long. The upper deck is a two-way six lane urban expressway with a design speed of 60 km / h, and the lower deck is a double track urban traffic with a design speed of 75 km / h.
Construction process
In August 2002, Chongqing municipal government approved the construction plan of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge and handed over the feasibility study of the bridge project to Chongqing Transportation Research and Design Institute;
In October of the same year, led by Chongqing urban investment company, a meeting on the construction of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge was held with Chongqing Planning Bureau, Chongqing Construction Commission, rail transit company and project team of Transportation Science Institute; in November, the feasibility study report on the adoption of highway light rail dual-purpose bridge for Caiyuanba bridge was completed, which was reviewed and approved by experts organized by Chongqing municipal government.
On December 28, 2003, the construction of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge started.
In June 2006, the deck laying of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge was completed;
On December 4, the main arch of Caiyuanba bridge was hoisted and the last section of steel box arch was installed, and the sling installation project was started;
On December 31, the closure project of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge was completed.
Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge was opened to traffic on October 29, 2007.
On December 5, 2011, Chongqing Metro Line 3 completed the completion test of Caiyuanba bridge.
On March 10, 2019, Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge was repainted.
Bridge location
Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge is located in the center of the main city of Chongqing, China. It is about 4km away from Egongyan bridge in the upstream and 2km away from Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge in the downstream. The bridge starts from the overpass at the entrance of Xiangyang tunnel in Yuzhong District in the north, connects with Liangkou, Zhongshan third road and Caiyuanba roads, crosses the Yangtze River channel from Chongqing long distance bus station, connects with sujiaba in Nan'an District, passes through the tunnel, and connects with Dashi overpass through Huayuan road and Dashi road.

Caiyuanba Yangtze River bridge adopts concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge scheme; concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge has the advantages of small engineering quantity and small investment amount. It is considered in engineering, has many high-altitude assembly members, and has high process requirements. However, there are many successful construction experiences of bridges in China, which can be used for reference. At the same time, there is no similar bridge type on the two rivers in Chongqing, which has beautiful structure and can be used for reference At that time, the prosperous railway station, Binjiang Road, Tongjian village villas and the south bank merged into one, forming another urban landscape of Chongqing.
Design features
Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge is a super large highway rail dual-purpose non thrust steel box tied arch bridge. The upper layer is the traffic lane, and the lower layer is the rail transit. The main bridge adopts the composite structure of rigid frame, basket type steel box tied arch and steel truss beam, and the semi floating system. The main beam is the orthotropic deck steel truss beam. The top chord plane of the steel truss beam is the highway deck, with two-way six lanes and two-sided sidewalks, and the bottom chord plane Double track urban light rail is arranged on the cross beam of the bridge to form a double deck super large public rail dual-purpose bridge. The bridge adopts intelligent active control system, the mid span and side span tie bars are separated; the main arch ring adopts closed steel box; "Y" type rigid frame is composed of front and rear cantilever, main beam, front and rear secondary beams and tie bar cable anchorage structure; the main bridge pier body adopts variable cross-section hollow thin-walled structure; the steel truss beam uses integral joints, and the upper chord box section members and orthotropic bridge deck form an integrated structure The fatigue stress amplitude of side span members is large, and the fatigue frequency of cross beam is high.
Design parameters
Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge has a total length of 7 km and a main bridge of 800 m, with a span of (88 + 102 + 420 + 102 + 88) M. The steel truss girder of the main bridge is 11.2m high, 39.8m wide at the top, 13m wide at the bottom and 16m long at the standard section; the main arch ring is 2.4m wide, 4.0m high and 16m long at the horizontal projection of the standard section. The section of main bridge pier body is 14m × 9m to 12m × 6.2m; the net width of bridge deck is 30.5m, which is arranged as (2.5 + 12.25 + 1.0 + 12.25 + 2.5m), and the net width of lower rail transit is 8.6m.

Lighting facilities
As of October 2015, all the old lamps and lanterns of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge have been removed, and the lighting has been upgraded, making the arch on the bridge in two colors. The top shelf is orange, and the steel cable under it is yellow. The whole bridge is warm.

Fare system
Since July 1, 2002, Chongqing Municipality has promulgated the administrative measures for the collection of road and bridge tolls in the main urban area of Chongqing Municipality, and started to implement the system of annual and sub tolls for road and bridge tolls. Roads, bridges and tunnels in the main urban area are included in the scope of annual and sub tolls for road and bridge tolls, and the one-stop parking charge for one bridge is cancelled.
The motor vehicles registered in the main urban area of Chongqing, or the motor vehicles whose owner's residence is in the main urban area, shall pay the annual road and Bridge toll at one time according to the regulations.
On November 23, 2017, Chongqing Municipal People's government issued a notice that the road and bridge traffic in the main urban area will be cancelled from 0:00 on January 1, 2018, including Caiyuanba bridge.
Traffic matters
On January 11 and 12, 2019 (from 0:00 to 6:00 every day), Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge will be closed in both directions, and all social vehicles will be prohibited from passing.
Construction achievements
Technical problems
In the superstructure project of Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge, the key and difficult points of construction mainly lie in the complexity of hoisting system, the difficulty of Y-shaped rigid frame construction, and the high installation accuracy of steel box arch and steel truss beam
1. The steel truss girder and steel box arch of the whole bridge are erected by cable crane, with a lifting weight of 3600 kn and a span of 420 m. The Tower of cable crane is supported on the arch rib cable tower. The requirements for the stress stability of the cable crane system and the arch rib cable tower system are different, so how to coordinate them becomes the difficulty in design and construction.
2. The "Y" type steel structure of main pier has large outrigger and no balance constraint. The structure design is novel, the technology is complex, the construction process is many, and the construction is difficult.
3. The design service life of bridge structure is one hundred years, which requires high durability of mechanism concrete; "Y" type rigid frame and bearing platform are high strength concrete, which requires high crack resistance and durability of concrete.
4. The steel truss girder erection adopts large segment integral hoisting construction, which has high manufacturing accuracy and strict installation control.
5. The steel box basket arch and mid span steel truss girder are symmetrically assembled with buckles and suspenders, and the midspan closure has high requirements for the control of the inner, linear elevation, angle and buckles (hangers) cable force of the members in each construction step.
6. The Yangtze River in Chongqing is a seasonal reach with large water level drop and wide variation of river width. The whole segment needs to be lifted from water transportation, which has a certain impact on navigation. It should closely cooperate with the navigation and port supervision departments to maintain the safety of the channel.
