Haizhu lake is located at the south end of Guangzhou new central axis, adjacent to Xinguang Expressway in the East, Guangzhou Avenue in the west, Xinjiao South Road in the north, ring expressway and Nanzhou road in the south. It is in the middle of the "well" shaped road surrounded by five roads. The lake area can directly radiate to Longtan fruit Park and Dongfeng fruit Park, becoming a rare water source for ten thousand mu orchards.

Six rivers such as shiliugang river will be able to divert water from Haizhu lake for replenishment, and a real "green heart" will be added to the south section of Guangzhou new central axis.
Project planning
The Haizhu Lake project was originally called "Haizhu rain flood regulation and storage area project". It is the core part of the water diversion and replenishment system in Haizhuqu District's water control project because of the need to build a stormwater flood storage area. In the process of planning the Haizhu Lake project, some people have proposed that since it is a water conservancy project, why not make further use of water? Because of the particularity of Haizhu District and the needs of urban development, why can't the construction of Haizhu lake be included in the landscape construction? When the flood comes, it can be used as a flood storage area, and when the flood goes, it can be used as a leisure area Therefore, we have the specific positioning and construction concept of Haizhu Lake today.
Main attractions
Since it is not a wetland park, and it is by no means a stagnant pool, the functional orientation of Haizhu lake is obvious. First of all, it is different from the existing Liuhua Lake and Dongshan Lake in Guangzhou. These two lakes are only used as landscape lakes, and the water body is dead. Haizhu lake has an independent water network system, which can replenish the water for the surrounding rivers. At the same time, it has the functions of rain and flood storage, water diversion, ecology, wetland, leisure and tourism. The planned land area of Haizhu lake is 2248.3 mu, including 1422.6 mu in the center of the lake (795 mu of water surface area and 627.6 mu of land area), and 825.7 mu of green land. According to the preliminary analysis and calculation results, the storage area of Haizhu lake is 7.78 square kilometers. Combined with the inflow capacity of several surrounding rivers, the waterlogging water level of the surrounding rivers can be reduced by about 0.10 m when the flood with a return period of 20 years occurs in Haizhu District. It can make up water for the river in dry season, and solve the problem of dry up and black and smelly water quality of the upstream river after sewage interception.
"Normally, as a landscape lake, the artificial lake is built into a park around it for citizens' leisure and entertainment. When the rainfall is sufficient, the area of more than 30 square kilometers around the artificial lake will play a role in collecting rainwater. When the climate is dry, the water of the artificial lake can be pumped to the upstream river through pipes to replenish water." Haizhu District official said. The recent implementation of rain and flood storage and ecological protection projects will play an important role in ecological water supply, tidal storage, further improving the regional water environment, regulating the regional microclimate, and realizing a virtuous cycle of the ecosystem in Haizhu District.
It is worth mentioning that Haizhu lake will also play a positive role in the protection of the ten thousand mu fruit forest in its east. In recent years, due to the deposition of silt in many rivers and the elevation of river bed, the roots of some trees in ten thousand mu fruit forest are soaked in silt all the year round, and the river water is seriously polluted, which is very unfavorable to the growth of fruit trees. After the completion of Haizhu Lake, the whole ecological environment will be better and the growth of fruit trees will be greatly improved.
Construction design
In order to demonstrate the necessity and feasibility of Haizhu lake, the relevant departments have organized many times to Hangzhou, Nanjing, Dongguan, Foshan and other cities for investigation and study. As a result, most of the rivers in Haizhu District are spacious, such as Huangpu River and shiliugang River, with an average water surface width of about 100 meters, it is not suitable to build wetland parks Finally, it was decided to build an artificial lake.
From the preliminary site planning, it can be seen that the surrounding area of Haizhu Lake intersects with six rivers, namely shiliugang River, Dawei River, Datang River, shangchong River, Yangwan River and Xilu River, forming a pattern of "one lake and six veins". Open the water system map of Haizhu District, it is not difficult to see that Haizhu lake can make use of the area surrounded by linsha Chong and Houjiao Chong. The lakeshore starts from the intersection of Yangwan Chong and Houjiao Chong, goes east along the right bank of linsha Chong to the intersection of linsha Chong and shiliugang River, and then goes west along the right bank of Houjiao Chong to Yangwan Chong, forming a round lake area. The elements must embody and carry forward Lingnan water culture, embody the concept of harmony between man and nature, and provide hydrophilic and entertainment space for citizens.
According to the requirements of the relevant person in charge of Haizhu District, the construction of Haizhu lake should try to protect the original ecology, and achieve the organic combination of landscape, ecology and artificial construction. At present, the project has entered the stage of design and bidding, and will start construction, striving to form the main frame. After completion, the water surface area will be about 1500 mu, which will be the second largest artificial lake in Guangzhou.
Purpose of construction
Haizhu District is flat, surrounded by water on all sides, surrounded by the front and back channels of the Pearl River flowing from west to East, with a water surface rate of 18.04%, ranking first in the central city of Guangzhou. However, with the acceleration of urbanization, the impervious area in the urban area is expanding, and the increase of runoff increases the drainage pressure of the river. In 2008, the municipal Party committee and government of Guangzhou put forward the idea of "taking the whole city's efforts to promote the sewage treatment system, water diversion and replenishment, and comprehensive river regulation project", and issued the water control task to each district. In the water control task book of Haizhu District, the rain flood regulation and storage area (Haizhu Lake) is an important part of the water control task. The municipal Party committee and the municipal government attach great importance to the construction of Haizhu lake. Zhu Xiaodan, member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party committee, executive vice governor and director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, Zhang Guangning, member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party committee, Secretary of the municipal Party committee and mayor, and other leaders have repeatedly instructed to speed up the construction of Haizhu lake. Su Zequn, member of the Standing Committee of the municipal Party committee and executive vice mayor, has personally examined and approved the planning scheme of Haizhu lake. Haizhu District Party committee and government regard the construction of Haizhu Lake as the top priority of water control work, and strive to promote the pace of construction.
In fact, as early as November 2005, Haizhu District considered building a "rain and flood storage area" from the perspective of water conservancy, which can comprehensively regulate and store the water network of the whole district. Then, the outline of the "rain and flood storage area" gradually became clear, and gradually became the Haizhu Lake planned and constructed today.
Haizhu District has a dense water network. However, in the process of rapid urbanization, many rivers have become dead ends or silted up. Due to the lack of hydrodynamic force, the flow of rivers is slow, and some places even become dead water. In addition, a large amount of sewage is directly discharged into rivers. Since the 1990s, Haizhu's water network has been seriously damaged. To solve the problem of water environmental pollution, on the one hand, we should cut off the pollution and curb the "black dragon"; on the other hand, we should solve the problem of insufficient power of river inflow and turn the "dead water" into "living water". From 2005 to 2008, Guangzhou water conservancy Research Institute conducted a series of water resources regulation experiments in Haizhu District. It was found that the water environment of Haizhu District could be effectively improved by using the tidal hydrodynamic force of the Pearl River and scientific and reasonable water diversion and replenishment of Haizhu lake.
"We are not simply spending a lot of money to dig a lake. The development of Haizhu lake is first of all out of consideration for the overall water conservancy project construction in Haizhu District." In response to the commencement of the Haizhu Lake project, the person in charge of the district government explained. "The three most basic functions of Haizhu lake are to discharge flood and waterlogging, to connect the water network, and to transfer and replenish water."
Haizhu lake has three main functions in improving water environment: one is to solve the problem of urban flood control and drainage. Secondly, by excavating the lake area to connect the whole water network in Haizhu District, several major rivers can be connected with the rain flood regulation and storage area to play the role of regulation and storage; thirdly, it is the need of water diversion and replenishment. Part of the rivers in Haizhu District are dead end ones, and the existing hydrodynamic force can not meet the need of replenishment, so it is necessary to manually transfer water to the upstream.
"Haizhu District is the area with the largest number of rivers and sluices in the urban area of Guangzhou. As the hydrodynamic forces of the six main rivers around Haizhu lake are at the end, the water quality is particularly poor. In order to improve the planting situation, it is particularly important to build Haizhu lake. " Huang Hong, President of Guangzhou water resources and Hydropower Survey, design and Research Institute, explained to reporters that after the completion of the construction of Haizhu lake, the lake water will be purified and injected into the upstream river. At the same time, the two-way pumping station will be built to transfer and replenish water by artificial power. "At that time, water can be replenished from the lake area to the river, or the sluice can be opened to realize drainage after the river is flooded."
