synonym
Malan base generally refers to Xinjiang Malan base
Xinjiang Malan base is located in Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. It is one of the research centers of China's nuclear test base in the 1960s. It has many military relics and is a military memorial site for the research and development of "two bombs". In 2011, it was listed in the second batch of classic list of national red tourism projects by the national development and Reform Commission.
There are red butterfly valley and Bosten Lake nearby.
brief introduction
Malan base in Xinjiang, the 21st test and training base of the general equipment department, was first coded as unit 0673, then changed to unit 8023, and then changed to unit 89800. It is the cradle of China's nuclear weapons and a mysterious place that could not be found on the map.
Malan base
Malan base was built by Chinese soldiers on a Gobi desert at the west end of Lop Nor in the 1950s. In October 1964, with a loud noise over Lop Nor, China's first atomic bomb was successfully tested, and Malan base became known to outsiders. After the nuclear test was stopped, the mystery has been gradually revealed here.
Malan base is located in the largest state in China——
Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture (the state covers an area of 470000 square kilometers, equivalent to four Zhejiang provinces, larger than the area of the United Kingdom), the western end of Lop Nor. The entire Malan nuclear weapon test site covers an area of nearly 100000 square kilometers, equivalent to the area of Jiangsu Province. It is the only nuclear test base in China, mainly responsible for the organization and command, theoretical research, test analysis, engineering technology and service support of China's nuclear test (Experiment).
Malan base, hundreds of kilometers away from the explosion center of Lop Nur nuclear test, has become a small town with complete living facilities after decades of development.
Name source
Statement 1: in the late 1950s, an army came here and saw that although the place was deserted, it had beautiful Malan flowers, so it was named Malan.
Statement 2: after returning from North Korea, general Zhang Aiping served as deputy chief of general staff of the people's Liberation Army, and he presided over the nuclear test. This famous general poet gave it a poetic place name - Malan, hence its name.
geographical conditions
geographical position
As a nuclear test base, it has excellent geographical conditions. It can be used as both an air explosion test site and a ground explosion test site. The terrain here is open, far away from cities and towns, convenient transportation, nearby water source, low groundwater level, and not in the earthquake zone. It is one of the best nuclear test sites in the world.
history
Over the past few decades, the base has successfully carried out dozens of tests of atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb and missile nuclear weapons, and achieved fruitful scientific research results.
On October 16, 1964, at Malan nuclear test base in Lop Nur, Xinjiang, China's first atomic bomb exploded successfully. Since then, China has become a nuclear power.
On June 7, 1967, China successfully tested its first hydrogen bomb at Malan nuclear test base in Lop Nur, Xinjiang.
On September 23, 1969, China's first underground nuclear explosion test was successful at Malan nuclear test base in Lop Nur, Xinjiang.
Living area
The living area of Malan base is about 7 square kilometers. Today Malan base is like a micro city with all kinds of living facilities. After more than 40 years of construction, Malan has changed completely. The first feeling after entering Malan base is that it is full of green, and the dark colors on the way are swept away, which is like entering Tao Yuanming's paradise. The scenery in the living area is also very beautiful. There are two cultural squares and a park. In the square, there is a large sand table of China which has won the Guinness world record. There is also a man-made lake. In the park, there is a long wall with the full text of Sun Tzu's art of war engraved with beautiful font and strong writing. It's hard to believe that it would be Xinjiang if we didn't look to the distance to see Tianshan Mountain. A straight and wide asphalt road runs across the base. On both sides of the road, there are towering poplars. Each tree is tall and straight. On both sides of the road, there are many people who have made contributions to China's nuclear weapons.
Development experience
In 2011, it was listed in the second batch of classic list of national red tourism projects by the national development and Reform Commission.
In October 2012, the "malanjun Expo Park" with an investment of more than 6 million yuan started to lay the foundation. In cooperation with the planning and Design Institute of Tsinghua University, Heshuo county Party committee and government of Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture have completed the overall planning, detailed planning and landscape design of the red tourism of the military Expo Park.
Malan has left many marks on the work and life of national defense generals and nuclear test scientists, and many important residences and work venues still maintain the original style. The 300 meter long man-made air defense tunnel (the third line headquarters) reveals the mystery and hardship of nuclear test.
