Luzhi Shuixiang farm tools Museum
The development of agricultural tools in China has experienced a long historical period, from the original tools of slash and burn cultivation to the coordination of copper, iron, wood and bamboo, and then to the tools of small handicraft production.
Located in the Yangtze River Delta in the southeast of China, Wu area (the whole Wu dialect area) is one of the earliest areas to use agricultural tools in China. It is a famous land of fish and rice. Agriculture is mainly rice planting, which has been known as "Su Hu Shu, the world's foot" since ancient times. From the remains of rice, stone and bone implements excavated from the Hemudu cultural site in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province, it is fully confirmed that Wu had entered the stage of farming as early as 7000 years ago. It is a qualitative leap to use stone axes to cut down trees and open up land, stone axes to dig soil, and stone sickles to harvest grain.
A large number of stone knives and sickles with wooden handles, stone shovels with shoulder holes, plough shaped implements and ploughing implements were excavated from Majiabang Songze Liangzhu Cultural sites more than 50000 years ago in caoxieshan and other places in Suzhou.
In the late period of Liangzhu culture, with the invention of smelting technology, a series of bronze farming tools were produced, including reclamation, ploughing, cultivation, management and harvesting. Since then, the reform of farming tools opened a new page, greatly promoting the development of productivity and social progress.
After the Six Dynasties, Wu's farm tools made great progress, from extensive to fine, and produced the earliest monograph on farm tools in China, that is, leifujing written by Lu guimeng, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty. It recorded jiangdongli in detail, which has been used up to now, marking the high achievement of agricultural tools in Tang Dynasty.
A history of agricultural tools is a history of agricultural development and a history of social development. Wu farm tools have a long history and are a valuable asset in the splendid Wu culture!
