Xiaonanhai site
Xiaonanhai ancient human cave site is located at the waist of beilouding mountain, 25 kilometers southwest of Anyang City. It is a scenic spot in Huanhe Grand Canyon. It is a karst cave with a distance of nearly one li from Xiaonanhai, facing west and East. This is the only Paleolithic site in Zhongzhou. There are 7078 stone tools, animal fossils and fire ashes unearthed. Stone tools are generally small in shape, most of which are made by hand. The stone materials are mainly flint, followed by quartz, a small number of flint, pith and limestone, including stone core, stone flake, hammer, sharper, various scrapers, and a small number of decorations. Animal fossils include wild donkey, rhinoceros, buffalo, wild boar, spotted deer, antelope, dog, orangutan, ostrich egg, hedgehog wolf and other animal species. Xiaonanhai grottoes, also known as the Northern Qi grottoes, are located 25 kilometers southwest of Anyang County, on the north shore of Xiaonanhai, facing the Huan River, with its back against the mountains. Because it is chiseled near the scenic Xiaonanhai grottoes, it is called Xiaonanhai grottoes. The three existing caves were all built during the Tianbao period of the Northern Qi Dynasty. The statues of the three caves are similar in size and style.
