Mianzhu New Year picture museum is located in the south of Mianzhu City, with an exhibition area of more than 1600 square meters. It is the only professional New Year picture Museum in China integrating collection, sorting, research, creation, publishing, development, sales, teaching New Year picture techniques, cultivating new people, and carrying out patriotic education in the form of art. It is also the largest New Year picture Museum in China. The collection in the museum has high artistic value. The picture of Spring Festival by Huang Ruihu, a master of Mianzhu New Year Painting in Qing Dynasty, is called the picture of Qingming River by experts and scholars.
In November 2019, the list of national intangible cultural heritage representative project protection units was announced, and Mianzhu New Year pictures museum was qualified as "Mianzhu woodblock New Year pictures" project protection unit.
Development history
Mianzhu nianxie Museum, built and put into use in 1996, has a building area of 6000 m2 and a construction investment of more than 6 million yuan. The museum integrates the functions of research, collection, display, exhibition, production and management of Chinese New Year pictures. Its scale and function are the largest in China. Since the reform and opening up, the artists and painters of the New Year pictures museum have devoted themselves to the transformation of New Year pictures into New Year pictures. They have successively opened "embroidery New Year pictures", "wood carving New Year pictures", "stone carving New Year pictures", "New Year pictures calendar", "New Year pictures door scroll" and other products, which are sold well at home and abroad. Among them, the embroidery New Year pictures "Zhaogong zhenzhai" won the gold award of the Fifth China Art Festival.

Thousands of people from all over the world come to visit this art palace, which costs 5 million yuan. Various kinds of folk New Year pictures are gathered here, and the number may exceed 800. Hu guangkui, director of the museum, said that although the Mianzhu New Year pictures "living" here are all fine works of New Year pictures, a large number of vibrant and full of vitality New Year pictures "live in seclusion" among the broad masses of people.
"The establishment of a new year picture museum can solve the risk of" losing "traditional New Year pictures, but this is not a long-term solution. Cultivating the market of traditional New Year pictures is the last way to survive." Hu guangkui said that in order to save the unique folk arts and crafts of Mianzhu New Year pictures, the museum has hired some folk artists from rural workshops to the museum since 1997 to give technical guidance to modern new year painters. Professional painters will be more innovative with the help of traditional artists.
At present, there are more than 30 artists engaged in the creation of New Year pictures in the museum, and three new year pictures training courses will be held every year. Last year alone, more than 100 young people received the training.
At the same time, new products such as embroidery New Year pictures, shadow puppet New Year pictures and New Year greeting cards developed by the museum have brought huge revenue to the museum. It is understood that last year alone, the revenue of the museum's New Year pictures reached 480000 yuan. Collection works
Born in 1996, this "young" museum is one of the only two professional New Year pictures museums in China. This is the effort made by the Chinese government and local governments to protect and inherit the ancient folk art of New Year pictures.
The museum is a three-dimensional building with a perfect combination of modernity and tradition. It has a ladder shaped structure, showing the appearance of high in the middle and low at both ends. It is said that the designers hope that this will bring aura to the Chinese New Year pictures, which are "rising step by step and becoming more popular".
Mianzhu New Year pictures of various periods are collected in the museum, from the oldest New Year picture stereotyped "door god" to today's innovative stone carving New Year pictures, embroidery New Year pictures and pottery New Year pictures. Among them, the picture of welcoming spring, which was handed down by Huang ruigu, an old artist in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, is particularly eye-catching. This painting, known as the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, and other works of art have been flown to the United States, France, Britain and other countries for exhibition.
