The park has magnificent forest and distinct seasonal features, long geological history and diverse geomorphic types, high peaks and magnificent valleys, various streams and waterfalls, mysterious underground rivers and Pingtang River, rich ethnic customs and long culture of ancient Yelang, which is a treasure of eco-tourism in Northwest Guizhou.

Hezhang National Forest Park is located in Hezhang County, northwest of Guizhou Province, which is composed of Pingshan forest region and Shuitang forest region. The total area of the park is 4733 hectares. There are more than 2000 species of vascular plants in the park, and the forest coverage rate is 87.8%. It is the most important biological gene pool and water conservation forest area in Northwest Guizhou.

The park is rich in forest resources. The plantations composed of Pinus armandii, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Cryptomeria fortunei, etc. are orderly. Most of the trees are over 20-30 years old. There are about 500 hectares of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest and mixed forest, 25 hectares of natural camellia forest and more than 1000 mu of Zhongshan grassland. Six special gardens, including Cunninghamia lanceolata, Eucommia ulmoides, Castanea mollissima, Cryptomeria fortunei and seed orchard, are connected into a piece, with a total area of nearly 100 hectares. There are more than 2000 species of plants in the park, including 18 species of Davidia involucrata, Metasequoia glyptostroboides and other national first and second class protected plants, with a forest coverage rate of 88.8%. There are 117 kinds of wild animals, including 32 kinds of national first and second class protected animals, such as golden eagle, forest musk deer and macaque.

The park is located in the plateau gorge area, with rich geographical landscape, which has the characteristics of majestic, strange, dangerous and beautiful. Yelang gorge, qixingjian gorge, Tonggu gorge and fuqixia gorge are full of high mountains, green peaks, rocks and rocks. The Seven Star River is developed from karst caves into three natural bridges, such as uncanny workmanship, which span over the river. The bridge deck is wide, with a span of 100-120 meters. Standing on the bridge, I feel as if I am in an ethereal fairyland. The clouds are flying and the forest is moving. The ever-changing mountain scenery gives people endless reverie. There are more than 10 deep and mysterious caves in the scenic area, which are good places for exploration and scientific research.

The park has a spectacular hydrological landscape. Large and small natural rivers, all the way Pentium, all the way singing. Some of the waterfalls are floating and some roar. The "vanilla waterfall" on several acres of lawn is so green that people are intoxicated. The "vanilla Lake" with a water capacity of 22000 cubic meters is formed in the eroded depression in the park. It is dotted with 17 artificial reservoirs in the green ocean. The water and mountains are close to people, and heaven and man are harmonious, just like a fairyland.

Tourism characteristics

The park is rich in human landscape resources. Yelang Culture is the mainstream of its history and culture, including the prehistoric culture more than 2000 years ago and the culture of various nationalities living in Yelang's hometown in 2000. The "Hezhang Kele tomb site" in the park was rated as one of the "top ten new archaeological discoveries" in 2001 by the Chinese society of archaeology. The qixingguan bridge, which was built in the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the period of the Republic of China, and the long red army road are precious historical and cultural heritages. The rich ethnic customs of Yi, Miao and other ethnic minorities, the joyful ethnic songs and dances, and the long-lasting toasting custom are all popular tourist items.
