Baofengshan Forest Park is named after its Buddhist temple Fengan. It is said that baofengan was built in the 20th year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty. In the 15th year of Tianbao (756), Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty Li Longji hid Yang Guifei in Baofeng nunnery. In the past, the "Niangniang hall" in the temple was dedicated to the statue of Yang Taizhen. In front of the hall, there is still a thousand year old cypress, which is planted by Princess Yang.
