Visitors stand on the copper heart at the bottom of the tower and look up to see the sky through a round hole in the center of the tower and the copper ball. Every year at 12:26 noon on the day of the summer solstice, the sun's direct light passes through here for a moment, and people stand here without shadow. After the completion of the sign tower, 28 mu of land will be allocated from Taiping to build the Tropic of cancer park.

The tower was completed on December 17, 1985 and opened on the summer solstice of 1986. According to the chronicle of Guangzhou municipal government, this place is the boundary between tropical zone and north temperate zone.
