Migratory bird reserve
Poyang Lake migratory bird reserve is located on the shore of Poyang Lake at the intersection of Xiushui River and Xihe River of Ganjiang River, near Wucheng town of Yongxiu county. It covers an area of about 90 square kilometers, and consists of 10 Lake ports, branches and bays, including Dahu lake, Zhonghu lake, sandy land and Benghu lake. The area is connected in spring and summer floods, and becomes a lake in winter dry seasons.
brief introduction
Because of the lush water and grass, rich fish, suitable climate and no industrial pollution, it has become the largest wintering habitat of migratory birds in the world. The migratory birds in Poyang Lake mainly come from Qinghu, Beidahuang and Siberia.
statistical data
Every year after autumn, a large number of migratory birds come here for the winter. According to preliminary statistics, there are more than 150 species of rare birds and exotic birds in the reserve. Among them, there are three species under national protection, namely, Chinese qiusha duck, spotted headed goose and great bustard. There are both wintering migratory birds and long-lived rare birds. It's also a paradise for wild ducks. Due to the protection measures taken in recent years, the number of migratory birds has increased year by year, which has greatly exceeded the number of migratory birds in the world published by relevant migratory bird organizations. In 1982, the world crane foundation announced that the total number of white cranes in the world was 820. In 1983, 409 white cranes were found in Wucheng migratory bird reserve alone.
Tourism
At Liaonan and Wucheng bird watching stations, you can scan the birds in the lake with high-power binoculars, and the migratory bird kingdom can be displayed in front of you. Countless colorful migratory birds are flying up and down, sometimes skimming over the water surface, flying straight into the air, sometimes circling and diving into the bottom of the water for food. Some of the noble white swans stir up their wings, play and chase; some of them hold their chests high and wander; some of them close their eyes and sleep peacefully. The hospitable wild ducks line up neatly, just like two long black dragons, which welcome guests from afar.
The white cranes like to live together in a family and enjoy the happiness of family. The migratory birds in the lake area seem to be a huge orchestra. The great bustard's voice is loud, the wild goose's voice is strong, the wild duck's voice is clear, the mandarin duck's voice is gentle, the sweet love song is moving, and the lake beach presents a warm scene of a hundred singers competing for their skills. With its unique charm, Poyang Lake Migratory Bird Nature Reserve has attracted a number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit.
