Zhegu Mountain
Zhegu Mountain is located at the junction of Li county and malkang County in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, with an altitude of more than 4000 meters. It's named for the shape of the mountain like a partridge that likes to fly towards the sun.

With the completion of Zhegushan tunnel and approach main works of national highway 317, the century old dream of Tibetan and Qiang compatriots in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province not to cross Zhegushan is coming true. It has shortened the mileage of the passage to Tibet from Chengdu to markang by 50 kilometers and saved driving time by one and a half hours.

According to incomplete statistics, thirty or forty vehicles are planted at the bottom of the abyss every year because of crossing Zhegu Mountain, which is known as the valley of death.
Over the past few decades, thousands of cars have crashed and thousands of people have died, causing huge losses to people's lives and property. Jiang Zemin and Zhu Rongji have successively given important instructions that "stability in Tibet must precede health" and "stability in health must precede access to health". On June 27, 2000, the Ministry of Communications approved the design scheme of Zhegushan tunnel and approach road with a total investment of 550 million yuan. At the beginning of 2001, the third company of the 21st bureau group undertook the construction task of contract section C, the most dangerous section of the whole line.

If it wasn't for seeing it with my own eyes, I can't believe that in the 21st century, for the historical mission of "Tongkang project", the railway construction army will have to live an ancient life as a savage. It's really a bit of the artistic conception of "the autumn grass is bright, the partridge is singing, and people are walking far away".
The contract section is all located on the 70 degree steep slope of the accumulation body at the foot of the typical deep slope with an altitude of more than 3600 meters. The glacier debris flow gully is 400 meters deep from the lower end of the subgrade split from the hillside. The local Tibetan people call it "yanwanggou", and the bottom of the gully is the roaring suomo River (the source of Dadu River). In order to transport mechanical equipment and materials to the site, we must climb nine "s" shaped steep roads and circle for more than 4 km to reach the construction site. The fuel consumption of vehicles is 25% more than usual, which is the worst pipeline section in the construction environment of the whole line. According to the design requirements, the side close to the mountain should be constructed first. According to the site conditions, Liu Zejun, the project manager, and Li Jing, the chief engineer, proposed to the owner the construction proposal of "reversing the construction procedure" and changing the "plane" of pile foundation lock to "u" shape, and the scheme was quickly approved.
It is proved that the two new schemes not only save investment, but also are convenient for construction operation. The qualified rate of anti slide pile, anchor pile, pile lock and pile sheet wall retaining plate reaches 100%. One night in August 2001, a sudden rainstorm triggered a landslide and damaged the construction water pipe and subgrade. After hearing the news, chief engineer Li Jing immediately went to the scene to organize more than 20 workers to rush to the rescue. In the storm, they first cut off the source of water pipes, rushed to transport materials, dredged the mountains and rivers, and renovated the landslide section; they fought from the first night to the next morning for 13 hours. It is estimated that if the rescue is not carried out in time, the fruits of labor and materials worth tens of thousands of yuan in the past few days will disappear, and the direct economic loss will reach 100000 yuan. Although the SHIZHIKOU tunnel is less than 100 meters long, it belongs to a typical shallow bias tunnel.
The entrance of the tunnel is located at the steep cliff of the concave slope of the nose shaped mountain mouth, with a vertical height of 320 meters from the mouth of the tunnel to the suomo river. At the same time, it is also located on the sliding surface of the geological boundary, with a buried depth of only 6-31 meters, and the second and third types of surrounding rock account for 85%, which is very easy to cause a big collapse. Moreover, the materials needed for the tunnel can only be transported manually from the access road cut by the cliff on the left side, so the construction is very difficult. In order to ensure safety, they formulated the construction scheme of "bench method, short footage, weak blasting and fast support", and adopted the technology of "grid arch support" and "long pipe shed auxiliary excavation", and set up a ring of 42 long pipe sheds with a diameter of 89mm at the arch at both ends of the inlet and outlet, so as to effectively curb the occurrence of landslides and realize safe connection. At the same time, they have also formulated strict quality objectives and technical disclosure system, which decomposes and refines various indicators into construction teams, teams and individuals, forming standards for each post and process; in particular, the implementation of "daily construction technical disclosure system" has played an important role in ensuring project quality, and contract section C has been among the best in all previous comprehensive inspection and evaluation of the whole line.
Since the new line has not been officially opened to traffic, the author still has to cross the high mountain and dangerous Zhegu Mountain on his way home. There was another traffic jam at Yakou, which lasted for three hours. In the face of snow covered foot thick ice and snow, but had to wait.
