Mu Gu Mu Yu
Mugu Muyu is located in the Mugua River Valley of Hualien County, Eastern Taiwan. Hualien is located in the longitudinal valley between the coastal mountains and the central mountains.
brief introduction
The papaya river originates from the qilai mountain, where the current is fast and the drop is very high. It is named because there is a mountain like papaya in the upstream. More than 200 years ago, the tailuge family, such as Mugu Muyu, crossed the central mountains and moved here from Nantou to settle down by the papaya stream, so it is called Mugu Muyu. Since the 1930s, power stations have been built here. Now there are eight power stations, including Qingshui, Chuying, Tongmen and Longjian. One of them keeps the record of the largest power station in East Asia.
Mukumugi is a transliteration originated from the Taroko people. This paper describes the first taruge people (Tongmen area and banyan tribe, Xiulin Township, Hualien County) who migrated here and praised this paradise in their language. It is rich in natural resources and beautiful scenery. It has been known as "little Tianxiang" for a long time.
characteristic
Mugu and Muyu have picturesque peaks and clear water. On the curved river bed, there are white marble. When there is a lot of water, the water in the papaya stream is steep, with rapids, pools and waterfalls everywhere. By the stream, birds sing, flowers smell, bees sing and butterflies dance. Such a beautiful scene, the stream can not see many people. There are two reasons. First, the traffic here is inconvenient. There is only one road built on the edge of the cliff when the power station was built. The road is very narrow, almost can only pass through a car, and because of the frequent landslides on the mountain, a large number of stones slide down, so many sections of the road are supported by arched pillars, which is extremely unique, giving people a romantic feeling of driving in the corridor bridge. Another reason is that in order to protect the environment, only 300 people are allowed to enter Mugu Muyu in the morning and afternoon every day, and they have to have a mountain entry permit issued by Tongmen police station to get there, so there are not many tourists here.
While enjoying the beautiful scenery, we can also feel the strong aboriginal culture here. Most of the people living in these communities are indigenous people, and they still live the life they are used to. Some old people don't even speak Mandarin, but they are very enthusiastic and helpful. By the Qingshui River, there is a small shop opened by the aborigines. The lunch is not very rich, but it is very special, including chicken soup, fried sausages and baked sweet potato. After sightseeing, take a rest in the shop.

history
In the Qing Dynasty, Xiulin township was subordinate to Sanlian township of Zhili, Taitung. It was called "Fandi" during the Japanese occupation and was managed by the Fanwu section of Yanhai branch and Hualien port department. Until the restoration of Taiwan, it was originally under the jurisdiction of the new urban and rural areas. Later, the government actively promoted the ethnic equality of the aborigines and helped the mountainous areas, so it abolished the system of tribal organizations and leaders in the mountainous areas politically, changed it into "township", implemented local autonomy to improve its political status, and set up the township governance center in "samurai forest", which is now Xiulin village The name of the township is "Shilin township", but because it has the same name as "Shilin" in Taipei, it is changed to "Xiulin township" because of its elegant environment with beautiful mountains, clear waters and green trees. Xiulin township has nine villages in its jurisdiction, including Wenlan, Tongmen, Shuiyuan, Jiamin, Jingmei, Fushi, Chongde, Heping and Xiulin, where the township office is located. "Mugu Muyu" is located in Tongmen community and Rongshu community of Tongmen village.
Most of the residents of meqmeqi are taruge people. It is said that their ancestors came from Chunyang hot spring in Nantou County on the other side of the central mountains. They first lived in the upper reaches of the Mugua River, and then gradually moved to the lower reaches of the Mugua river.
folk custom

They also learn from the Japanese to melt trees and refine knives, axes, hoes and arrows. They create the famous "Tongmen mountain sword" for people of all ethnic groups in the East.
