brief introduction
Dafeng temple was built in the 17th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (1419 AD). The temple is composed of the front hall, the second hall, the main hall and the triple hall. There are 18 lattice doors in the main hall of the temple. There are tall copper statues of Sakyamuni Buddha in the hall. In addition, there is a Buddha statue called "old sleeping statue" in the hall. It is said that in the early years of the Qing Dynasty, there was a chieftain surnamed Gao. The people thought that he could cure all kinds of diseases and bring good luck, so they made a statue to commemorate him. The main hall is 5 rooms wide and 4 rooms deep, with single eaves resting on the top of the mountain. Its beam column structure is mainly frame structure method, which is made of wood frame, without any nail wedge trace. This unique technology is based on the wooden frame as the backbone, the lower column, the upper frame of cubic sandalwood, bearing the full weight of the roof. In this kind of structure, the wall doesn't support the weight, it just separates the inside and outside to prevent the invasion of wind and rain. The head arch structure of the main hall is beautiful, towering at the junction of columns and horizontal columns. It not only extends the eaves, but also increases the bearing capacity of beams and columns. It organically combines beauty with practicality, showing the unique style of traditional architectural art in Shenguo. The ancient architectural complex of Defeng temple is composed of Mountain Gate, front hall, second hall, main hall, two chambers, two ears and dizang temple. The main hall has a width of 5 rooms and a depth of 4 rooms. The single eaves rest on the top of the mountain. The beams and columns are of the type of lifting beams. They are made of laminated wood without nail and wedge marks. The main hall was arched to strengthen the load and extend the eaves. The whole building, with strict layout, is a relatively complete wooden structure building in Yunnan in Ming Dynasty. Among them, there is a bronze statue of Sakyamuni with gold body cast in the Ming Dynasty, about 2 meters high.
Cultural Relic
There are two steles in the temple, the inscription on Dehua of Xingbao temple and the record of Emperor Ming of Ji suling peak, both of which are carved on the same stone. The stele was erected in the second year of Yuanheng (1186) of Dali state. The inscription describes the process of building the temple, Gao's merits and virtues, and the grand ceremony of offering sacrifices to Ji Sushan. The monument was originally located in Xingbao temple, Yangpai village, and was moved to Defeng temple in 1962. It is the second batch of provincial key cultural relics protection units.
