Lanzhou is a long and narrow valley extending from east to west, sandwiched between the north and South Mountains. The Yellow River passes through the city at the foot of Jiuzhou mountain in the north of the city. Along the South Bank of the Yellow River, a riverside road dozens of kilometers from east to West has been opened. Because the road is wide and straight, with flower beds and nurseries on both sides, it is known as the green corridor and has become the longest Riverside Road in the city.

Characteristic sculpture

Yellow River mother

Located in the middle of Binhe Road, it is the most beautiful sculpture of the Yellow River, the mother of the Chinese nation. It has high artistic value and won the "excellent award" in the first national urban sculpture scheme evaluation. The composition is composed of "mother" and two "baby boys". Mother's hair flutters, her face is kind, her body is tall and well proportioned, her curves are beautiful, she smiles slightly, she looks up and bends her right arm slightly, and she lies on her back on the waves. On the right side, a naked baby boy is nestled up with his head slightly to the left. He looks naughty and cute with a smile. The composition of the sculpture is refined and profound, symbolizing the continuous and indomitable mother of the Yellow River and the happy and thriving Chinese descendants.

Green Hope

Located 180 meters east of the Yellow River mother sculpture. It was built in July 1987 with donations from more than 1.3 million teenagers in Gansu Province. The main statue is composed of three white marble cone-shaped trees 11 meters, 8 meters and 3 meters high, which stand in the green space with uneven height and density, implying the meaning of "forest" of three trees, reflecting the great feat of Gansu people in planting grass and trees and greening Longyuan, and symbolizing the vigorous growth of young people in Longyuan.

Raft guest wave is located in the small garden of "white tower overlooking" in the east section of Binhe Road. It was made by Wang Xingzhong on October 1, 1986. The sculpture is inlaid with yellow river pebbles on a reinforced concrete base, which is like a rolling Yellow River wave. The raft slants over the top of the waves, breaking the waves and chasing the wind. The bronze rafter was kneeling with her head raised and paddled, followed by a kneeling girl with her right hand close to her temples and a serene look. This sculpture reproduces the traffic mode of rafting on the Yellow River in the past, which is the main content of the Yellow River culture in Lanzhou.

Ancient Silk Road

It is located at the south end of the Yellow River Bridge and the south section of Binhe Road in Chengguan District. The sculpture, with a camel as the core, is carved from granite. It is 6 meters high, 7 meters long and weighs more than 100 tons. It reflects the prosperity of the Silk Road in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Male camel full of satin, riding on a cape, right hand with a cool canopy eyelashes look at the elderly. On the right front of the camel, Hu Shang, who had deep eyes and long beard, walked backward. A young man at the right rear of the camel made a trumpet like call for the follow-up camel team. The composition of the sculpture is simple, dignified and magnificent, which makes people feel desolate.

Wild geese falling in the sand

Also known as "fangzhousiyan", it is located in the east section of Binhe Road, south of Yantan Jianzi. In the irregular shallow pond, three stainless steel geese of different sizes fly away from the water, and the West Bank of the pond is decorated with five "geese eggs". The overall use of abstract techniques, slightly deformed, appears novel and chic. This sculpture is based on one of the ten new sceneries in Lanzhou, which is the landscape of "fangzhousiyan" and the legend of Yantan. It expresses Lanzhou's desire to restore ecological balance and return the wild geese to Yantan. It also reminds people of the life succession process of wild geese from breeding to flying.
