Dongji town is located at the easternmost end of Zhoushan Archipelago, about 45.5km away from Shenjiamen fishing port, between 122.4 ° E and 30.1 ° n.

Historical evolution

Dongji was originally a township of Wengzhou county (today's Daishan County). After the liberation in November 1953, it was under the jurisdiction of Putuo county at that time. At the end of the same year, the people's Government of Dongji district was established, which governed four townships, namely miaozihu, Qingbang, Huangxing and dongfushan. In October 1956, Qingbang and dongfushan were merged into Qingdong township. In September 1958, he miaozihu, Qingdong, Huangxing three townships for the East pole people's commune. The eastern polar region was restored in 1964. In September 1984, the four communes were converted into four townships. In May 1992, the eastern polar region and four townships of Qingbang, miaozihu, Huangxing and dongfushan became the eastern polar town.

East pole belongs to pure fishery area. At the beginning of liberation, there were abundant aquatic resources, but the level of fishery productivity was extremely low. The fishing methods were very primitive (mainly including the traditional operation methods of small wooden fishing boats, such as releasing cages along the coast, pulling, towing and fishing), and then gradually developed into the marine fishery production of small pairs and large fishing boats. By the end of the 1970s, the fishery resources had declined sharply due to the loss of macro control. At the same time, due to the influence of the "left", the "big pot" in distribution and the "big HuLong" in system, the enthusiasm of the masses had been seriously frustrated, and it was difficult to improve the fishery productivity.

After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Dongji town insisted on making major adjustments to the ownership structure of fishing villages based on local conditions. In 1979, the fishing villages began to establish the responsibility system of large contract production, which was the first step in the economic system reform of fishing villages. After 1985, the fishing villages developed from the single ship accounting system to the joint-stock cooperative economic system, and implemented the "joint-stock cooperative operation, centralized management of villages and communities" The implementation of the new management system and the fishing boat joint-stock cooperation system not only brought vitality to the development of Fisheries in the East pole, but also paved a new way for deepening the economic system reform in fishing areas. By the end of 1999, there were 533 fishing boats of various sizes (shrimp towing, offshore fishing, canvas fishing, single towing, fishing, crab cage, diving, etc.) in the town, with a total horsepower of 77412 and a total tonnage of 26923 tons. The comprehensive strength of fishery production was significantly enhanced. There are many natural harbors in the East polar islands. On the south side of miaozihu Island, there is a national second-class fishing port. As early as 1979, there were six fixed wharves with a capacity of less than 300 tons. In 1996, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 300 tons was built. There are also many high standard fishing passenger wharves in Qingbang, Huangxing and dongfushan. Miaozihu port is a natural deep-water port, which can berth more than 1000 fishing boats at one time. The island has all kinds of power supply, water supply, ice supply, oil supply, repair, medical treatment, shopping, entertainment and management facilities.

Communication development

Posts and telecommunications in East pole are developing rapidly. Since 1987, Sr microwave telephones have been installed successively in miaozihu, Qingbang, Huangxing and dongfushan islands, which can directly connect to Zhoushan City and hang up long-distance calls. At the end of 1995, 1024 program-controlled telephones were set up in miaozihu and Qingbang of Dongji. Then Huang Xing and dongfushan also used program-controlled telephones. In 1998, China Mobile was built in miaozihu. In June 2000, China Unicom established a digital telephone signal transmitting base station on miaozihu island. Mobile phones have entered ordinary people's homes, and mobile phones on fishing boats are used more frequently. The postal delivery of each island has been standardized, and it is very convenient for military and civilian to post letters and parcels.
