Zhongting

Zhongting

Zhongting is located at the south foot of Fubo mountain and the west side of huanzhu cave. It is a single-layer Square Pavilion with warped eaves and sharp roof. It is 4.7 meters high, 4.5 meters wide, 4.4 meters long, and covers an area of 19.8 square meters. It is named after the ancient bell in the pavilion.

Historical development

The ancient iron bell is 2.5 meters high, 1.7 meters in diameter, and weighs 2524 kg. It was cast in 1669, the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It was used to publicize Kong Youde's contribution to the establishment of the flag. Kong Youde, a general of Ming Dynasty, made great contributions to the entry of the Qing army into the pass. He was granted the title of Nanwang and ruled Guangxi. Dingyue temple was founded in 1651. The next year, Li Dingguo, leader of the peasant army, conquered Guilin City, and Kong Youde hanged himself. Fifteen years later, his son-in-law sun Yanling and daughter Kong Sizhen went to Guilin to serve as generals and deacons of Yiwei in Guangxi. They expanded the Dingyue temple and cast bells to record their military achievements.

Main value

On the top of the bell is a volume of "duoxinjing"; the columns around the bell use "Huangtu consolidation", "emperor Daoya Chang", "Buddha RI Zenghui" and "Falun Changzhuan" as the leading parts of the inscriptions; the bell type is "Benqi Gongde Zhujin name", which is actually the directory of the military leaders of that year, covering the political purpose with religion. This bell, which used to be a magic weapon of the temple gate, has now become a witness of historical development.
