Development history
Tianjin Confucian temple was built in the first year of Ming Dynasty. It is a temple for local education officials and Confucius. Confucian temple is not only the highest level of ancient buildings in Tianjin history, but also the most complete and large-scale existing ancient buildings in Tianjin.
Confucian temple, also known as Confucius Temple, is a temple to honor and commemorate Confucius. It is called Confucian Temple because it is opposite to Wu Temple, which worships famous generals of all dynasties. The Confucian temple is also the school palace in Tianjin. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Confucian temples were repaired and built many times, among which the large-scale ones were Tianshun and Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, Kangxi and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. The layout of the Confucian temple inherits the traditional Sihe palace system in China. From south to north, it is composed of Wanren palace wall (Zhaobi), panchi, Lingxing gate, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall, Chongsheng temple and the East and west side auxiliary halls. Some of the building names are unique to the Confucian temple. For example, panchi is a semicircular water pool with a stone bridge. It comes from "Biyong" in Zhouli. The original meaning is the Grand School surrounded by water set up by the emperor of Zhou. When people set foot on panchi, it is like entering the highest school. In the Qing Dynasty, it was called "Rupan" for those who had passed the examination. Lingxing gate is a archway with four towering pillars. It is said that Lingxing is the God in charge of culture and education in the sky. Through the Lingxing gate, you can get the blessing of the gods. Dacheng hall is the main building of Tianjin Confucian Temple Museum. Located in the center of the temple, it is the main hall for offering sacrifices to Confucius. It was completed in 1447. The hall is dedicated to Confucius, Mencius Ke, Yan Hui and other 12 philosophers, which shows that there are successors to Confucius' learning and there are many students. In the old days, every year's activities of offering sacrifices to Confucius were held here, which was the center of the whole activities of offering sacrifices to Confucius. In Tianjin, according to the old regulations, Confucius held a festival every year in the spring and autumn of the lunar calendar. August 27 of the lunar calendar is Confucius' birthday. At this time, all schools have a holiday. They have to salute Confucius and have a meal of noodles to commemorate Confucius' birthday. In addition, in the East and west side of the side hall, 72 sages of Confucius and famous officials and local sages of the past dynasties were worshipped. Back hall - Chongsheng Temple Chongsheng temple is the back hall, where Confucius' parents and five generations of ancestors are worshipped. The two archways across the street in the east gate are also part of the overall building of the Confucian temple. The archways are of two columns and three floors, with wood structure and peculiar shape. On the banner, there are gilt carved Longhua boards, exquisite brackets supporting the four awading of three "five backs and six beasts", and the calligraphy of "depeitiandi" and "Daoguan ancient and modern" written by Hua Shikui, which make the archway magnificent and exquisite. This is also the praise of Confucius. As a famous scenic spot in Tianjin, Confucian temple has been preserved for more than 500 years. In Jinmen, Confucius has been sacrificed as a saint for hundreds of years. In 1954, the Tianjin municipal government announced the Confucian temple as the first batch of municipal cultural relics protection units. After that, a large sum of money was allocated for restoration and maintenance for many times
. In 1985, the municipal government allocated 900000 yuan to repair and rebuild the shadow wall, panchi and lingxingmen of the county temple. The Confucian Temple Museum was established in 1987 and opened to the public in October of the same year. The museum displays "restoration exhibition of Dacheng Hall of Fu Temple" and "exhibition of Confucius' life". The cultural relics in the museum are mainly sacrificial rites and musical instruments. The more important collections are chime, guqin, Guse, Jiangu, yinggu, Bogu, tongjue, Zhuzhen, Zhuzhen, etc. these collections show the Chinese traditional culture and Confucianism of two thousand years. The museum also holds "ancient music performance for Confucius" from time to time.
The main buildings of the Confucian temple are the cross street archway, Wanren palace wall, panchi, Lingxing gate, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall and Chongsheng temple. These buildings are arranged symmetrically and run through the north and south central axis respectively, with typical Chinese traditional architectural style. At present, there are basic exhibitions such as the exhibition of the restoration of Dacheng hall and the exhibition of musical instruments and dancing utensils for offering sacrifices to Confucius, and temporary exhibitions are held from time to time. The regular "Confucius worship ceremony and music and dance theme performance" has become a far-reaching tourism and cultural brand in Tianjin. The Confucian temple has such items as "number one scholar fragrance" and "wish card" to satisfy the wishes of parents and students, so that tourists can feel the profound Chinese traditional culture and the beauty of ancient architectural art in leisure.
