Hopewell Center
Hopewell centre is located at 183 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong. It has 66 floors (including the basement and the underground 216 meters). It is adjacent to Hu Chung building. It was built in 1980.
Hopewell Center is built by Hopewell Industrial Co., Ltd. It is designed by Hu Yingxiang, chairman and architect of Hopewell Industrial Co., Ltd. It is also the headquarters of Hopewell Industrial Co., Ltd.
characteristic
Hopewell centre is a cylindrical building, which is the first building in Hong Kong built with Australian slip form technology. The top floor is equipped with revolving restaurants and restaurants, and the bottom floor is equipped with shopping malls, restaurants and parking lots. In the 1980s, Hopewell centre was once the tallest building in Asia and Hong Kong. It also marks the eastward shift of Hong Kong Business District, which was later replaced by Bank of China building.
The hehe center consists of two inner walls and an outer wall with a diameter of 15 feet. The first inner wall is the elevator passage. The inner wall is used for toilet, storage room and management passage only. Between the second inner wall and the outer wall are office buildings and shopping malls.
As the height difference between Kennedy Road and Queen's Road East is up to 50 meters, the elevators leading to the office buildings in Hopewell centre can stop on the 17th floor (exit of Kennedy Road) to facilitate the public to travel between the two places. This also results in the cancellation of a bus line running on Kennedy road. Two of them are from the 17th floor to the 56th floor.
history
The former site of Hehe center was "panlongli Jigong living Buddha Hall". In the 1980s, it was demolished and rebuilt into hehe center. The statue of Jigong living Buddha was moved to guangfuyi temple in Taipingshan street, shanghuan for worship. The entrance stone with three characters "panlongli" was changed to a platform in the West of Taigu square in Admiralty.
