Characteristics of Hutong
The east entrance of yu'er hutong is not very obvious. As it intersects with NanLuoGu lane, there are many special shops with different styles. If you don't pay attention, you will miss the yu'er Hutong mixed with shops. On one side of the entrance is a small wooden plaque. On the other side of the gray wall are two signboards. One is "yu'er Hutong" in white on a red background, and the other is "Qi Baishi Memorial Hall of old residence" in Chinese and English in white on a blue background. It is clearly marked that the memorial hall is 100 meters away from the entrance of the Hutong

Memorial Hall of Qi Baishi's former residence
No. 13 courtyard in Hutong was originally the eastern part of Bushu mansion, the fourth son of Emperor Taizong of Qing Dynasty. It is a complete single courtyard. In 1955, under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China appropriated funds for the residence of Qi Baishi, an art master. After Qi Baishi died in 1957, the state planned to build "Qi Baishi Memorial Hall" here, and later became the office of Beijing Academy of painting. In 1986, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Dongcheng District. In 2012, Beijing Painting Academy restored the original building and renamed it as the memorial hall of Qi Baishi's old residence.
The Yamen of Shounian banner
In the Qing Dynasty, the official organs were responsible for handling the affairs of eight banners, recording archives, and convening flag affairs meetings, which were not handled by each banner separately. Yongzheng was established in 1728. The former office building is located on the north side of the Hutong, facing south, four into the courtyard, a total of 40 houses. Through textual research, it is inferred that the Yamen area of yuannianqi in that year was No. 25 to No. 33 courtyard of today's Yuer Hutong. Among them, 25-27 is the escort agency affiliated to the value of the flag, 30 yard is the value of the flag horse circle, 31 is the office of Yamen. In the first 27 courtyard, there is still a relatively intact house on the top of the hard hill with tile and clear water ridge; in the other side of the gate of the first 31 courtyard, there is still an octagonal blue brick wall.
