Millennium shipwreck

Nanhai-1, a merchant ship of the Song Dynasty, sank to a depth of 20 meters in the sea area of Yangjiang and was covered with 2 meters thick silt. The whole merchant ship is about 30 meters long and 10 meters wide, which is the largest ship found in the Song Dynasty. It was first discovered in 1987, but its research was delayed due to technical and financial problems. The underwater archaeological team once carried out a small-scale trial excavation of nanhai-1 and recovered thousands of gold, silver, copper, iron and porcelain relics, most of which are very rare or even unique. One of these rare treasures, a porcelain bowl of the same kind, was sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in the United States!

According to the preliminary identification of cultural relic experts, the shipwreck nanhai-1, located on the ancient maritime Silk Road, the main channel of China's overseas trade in the Tang and Song Dynasties, is an international trade ship. The ship may be from a domestic port to the Middle East. It is estimated that the total number of cultural relics of the ship may reach 60000 to 80000. Experts in the field of cultural relics believe that after the "nanhai-1" is fully salvaged, the number and value of cultural relics of the upper level will be equal to the total number of cultural relics collected in Guangdong Province before!
