The hongmenbao building complex of Wang's courtyard was built from 1739 to 1793, with 88 courtyards and 776 houses, covering a total area of 25000 square meters. The general layout of the hongmenbao complex is not only a "King" but also a dragon. In addition to the courtyard in the front hall and back bedroom, some of the buildings should be the front garden and back yard in order to conform to the geographical conditions. Because some of the courtyards were built in the early Qianlong period, their decoration is delicate and dense, showing simple and rough, close to the style of Ming Dynasty. The Chinese Wang's Museum, painting and calligraphy Museum, treasure house, zhuoju teahouse, Wang's Vinegar workshop, tofu workshop and "national Shanxi Merchants guild hall photo exhibition" set up in hongmenbao are open to visitors.

North wall of Hongmen Fort
The fort wall is connected around, 638 meters in circumference, and is specially used for family members to patrol and play watchmen on it. The highest point is 32 meters above the ground. Here we can see the five castles built by the Wangs. In the west is Chongning Fort (Xibaozi), which was built in the Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty, covering an area of 35000 square meters. In the Qianlong period, the Wangs built Heyi Fort (southeast Fort) in the southeast of Jingsheng Village, which is the largest one built by the Wangs, covering an area of 47320 square meters. In the same period, Gongji Fort (lower Nanbao) was built in the village, which is the largest one built by the Wangs Build the smallest group of buildings, with an area of 11880 square meters. Therefore, the Wangs' courtyard is the general name of the buildings of the Fort Group. According to historical records, when the Wangs built the five fortresses, they were named "dragon, Phoenix, turtle, Lin and tiger" respectively, in order to cater to the fate. Hongmen castle in the middle is "dragon", Gaojiaya castle in the East is "phoenix", Xibaozi in the west is "tiger". Southeast fort is "turtle" and lower South Fort is "Lin". These five castles, symbolized by five auspicious beasts, are majestic and have the reputation of dragon flying, Phoenix dancing, turtle pulling Yao cart, lintuyushu and tiger lying in the West.
South wall of Hongmen Fort
The buildings of hongmenbao symbolize a soaring dragon. The gate is the dragon's head. The two wells in the bottom are longan. The main tunnel in the middle is the dragon's body. The four cross lanes are dragon claws. Under the pavilion facing the gate is an ancient cypress tree, which is the dragon's tail. As a famous family, the Wangs had the vision of dragon and Phoenix during their prosperity.
Hongmen fort is located in the north facing south, built on the mountain, progressive layer by layer, magnificent momentum. This way of building is very conducive to lighting and drainage. In winter, the mountains behind can block the cold northwest wind. In summer, they welcome the coolness brought by the southeast monsoon. There are ravines around baozi, which are very defensive. All these reflect the wisdom of the designer.
South Gate of Hongmen Fort
Hongmen castle is also called hengzhen castle, "hengzhen" means to keep the right path forever. "Looking forward to the clouds and the sun" comes from records of the Jade Emperor, which means to meet the emperor. Because two of the Wangs had attended the banquet of qiansou, they were summoned by the inner court of Qianlong and Jiaqing, so they set up this plaque. Nanpu gate is divided into two layers, double arch and double door, which is very solid.
Outside the gate of the fort is a large eight character screen wall, with a seal engraved in the center of the wall. Both sides of the seven Jue intended to warn future generations, to inherit the virtues of ancestors, abide by the instructions of ancestors, will carry forward the family.
After visiting the Wang's courtyard, I believe everyone is amazed by its unique natural environment, strict architectural layout and superb three carving art! The buildings here not only record the life of the Wang family for hundreds of years, but also reflect the home culture of Jingsheng Wang's ancestors. This kind of baozi, which adapts measures to local conditions, obeys etiquette and law, takes family as unit and family as community, is the representative of ancient dwellings in Jinzhong and even Shanxi. Such a museum of architectural art can be called a bright pearl in the northern residential buildings, and it is worthy of the popular saying that "the Wangs don't come back to see the courtyard".
Erjia East Lane
Erjia East Lane is the courtyard of Dexin, Yaoxiang and Qianji. It has different structure and layout, and has its own characteristics.
There are stone carvings on the wall inside the dwelling house of Dexin. The carvings are complete in composition and exquisite in technique. The woodcutter talks and laughs, the elder fishermen wait patiently, the young scholars concentrate on their studies, and the father-in-law of cultivated land is meticulous, which reflects the most comfortable life style in the farming society. From the west gate of Dexin residence, you can get to the front yard of Yixiang residence. There are no wing rooms on the East and west sides of the courtyard, but the corridor is used as decoration, reflecting the southern style. From the waist door of the house, you can also get to Qianji house, which is also a front and back yard. There is a sundial in the yard.
The three courtyards are open in the form of Liqun Art Museum. Liqun is a famous Chinese printmaker, lingshiren. He was born in 1912 and died in 2012 at the age of 100. He was fond of painting when he was young. In 1931, he was admitted to the national Hangzhou art college. In 1933, he organized and established the "wooden bell woodcut Research Association" and began to engage in realistic woodcut creation. There are 184 works created by Mr. Dui Qun in different periods, including 39 sketches, 24 traditional Chinese paintings and 121 prints.
Sanjia East Lane
Sanjia East Lane is the Wang's Museum. The Wang's museum is a museum in museum with the Wang's courtyard as the carrier. From the origin of surname and Wang family, the exhibition focuses on the ancestor, inheritance, migration and distribution of Wang family, as well as the branches and celebrities of Wang family in Taiyuan. At the same time, the Wang family history of Lingshi Jingsheng, a descendant of the Wang family in Taiyuan, is included as a necessary content, which reflects the outstanding contribution of the Chinese Wang family in the process of five thousand years of civilization in history.
Dingjia Garden
The top building is a front garden and backyard layout. The front four gardens communicate with each other, and the back yard is a two-story building. This unique style of sky garden is cool in summer and cool in winter. Go through the garden and climb the steps to the wall of Hongmen castle.
