Wu Garden
Wujia garden, located in Guajiatun village, Haidian Town, Haidian District, Beijing, is managed and used by the Ministry of state security of the people's Republic of China.
Historical development
The beginning of the Wu garden is unknown. Since the 1990s, some documents believe that the predecessor of chengzeyuan and Wujiayuan was zideyuan, which was built in the third year of Yongzheng (1725) of the Qing Dynasty. Emperor Yongzheng granted Yunli to his seventeen younger brother Prince Guo. After textual research, this statement is wrong. Zide garden is close to the southwest side of Yuanmingyuan, that is, the South courtyard of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, rather than Chengze garden and Wujia garden, which are just to the south of Yuanmingyuan.
Wujia garden used to be a part of the west of Chengze garden. During the reign of Yuan Shikai of the Republic of China, this part was sold to Wu Dingchang, so it was called "Wu garden". At that time, the lintel of the gate of the garden was hung with a wooden sign of "Wu Da Quan villa". But it is said that Wu Dingchang did not live here.
The writer Bing Xin said in his 1936 article "a day of spring," that "on the afternoon of April 30, a friend asked me to visit the begonias in the Wu garden of Guajiatun", and then wrote about the process of seeing the begonias in the Wu garden.
From July 2 to August 1, 1959, the CPC Central Committee held an enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Lushan, Jiangxi Province. Peng Dehuai was criticized at the Eighth Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from August 2 to August 16 for writing a letter to Mao Zedong. After returning to Beijing, the military system continued to criticize Peng Dehuai on a large scale. Peng Dehuai was unable to live in Zhongnanhai, so he proposed to move out of Zhongnanhai. In this way, from the end of September 1959 to November 28, 1965, Peng Dehuai left Beijing and went to Chengdu, Sichuan Province to serve as the third deputy commander in chief of the third tier construction. He lived in Wujia garden for six years. During his stay in the Wu garden, Peng Dehuai lived in a small courtyard facing south.
Wujia garden is now managed and used by the Ministry of state security of the people's Republic of China. In 2014, Wujia garden was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit of Haidian District by the people's Government of Haidian District.
