Tangshan workers University

In 1956, the Party Central Committee called on "the whole country to march towards science and culture". In September of that year, the first party congress of Tangshan City decided to establish Tangshan Industrial night University, which is located in Tangshan railway college.

In 1957, with the approval of the former Ministry of higher education, it was officially named Tangshan amateur Institute of technology, which was in charge of by Tangshan Municipal People's government and managed by Tangshan railway institute.

In 1960, he was rated as the national advanced unit and sent representatives to attend the "National Conference of cultural and educational elites".

In September 1969, it was suspended due to the cultural revolution.

In July 1980, the recruitment of students was resumed, which was still under the charge of Tangshan Municipal government and Hebei Institute of mining and metallurgy.

In January 1989, Tangshan amateur Institute of technology was renamed Tangshan workers University. In October of the same year, the school moved to Huayan North Road.

 

Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University

In September 1985, Southwest Jiaotong University established the Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University in order to support Tangshan. After its establishment, the branch also joined the ranks of joint education. Thus, a "three in one" joint school running system of Tangshan University, Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University and Tangshan amateur Institute of technology was formed, and the school site was moved to the former municipal Party committee compound of Wujiazhuang.

 

Tangshan College

In March 1983, in the upsurge of setting up higher vocational and technical education in medium-sized cities, Tangshan Vocational University was established in Tangshan Institute of education with the approval of the people's Government of Hebei Province and the record of the former State Education Commission.

In September 1984, Tangshan Municipal People's government decided that Tangshan Vocational University and Tangshan amateur Institute of technology should jointly run schools, and the school site should be moved to Tangshan radio and Television University.

In June 1985, Tangshan Vocational University changed its name to Tangshan University.

In July 1992, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Tangshan University changed its name to Tangshan College, which was officially included in the series of colleges. The original affiliation and investment channels remained unchanged.

In March 1996, the State Education Commission approved Tangshan College as a municipal college. The college and Southwest Jiaotong University began to jointly run undergraduate programs.

 

Merger and formation

In March 2002, with the research and approval of the Ministry of education, Tangshan College, Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University and Tangshan workers University were merged to form an ordinary undergraduate college at the undergraduate level - Tangshan College. At the same time, Tangshan College, Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University and Tangshan workers University were abolished. On June 12, the Department of education of Hebei Province approved the former Tangshan building materials industry school to be incorporated into Tangshan College and become the East Campus of the college

In December 2014, with the approval of the people's Government of Hebei Province, Tangshan Branch of Hebei University of science and technology was incorporated into Tangshan College.

In 2015, with the approval of Tangshan Municipal People's government, Tangshan foreign economic and trade school was incorporated into Tangshan University

Tangshan university is divided into four campuses: West University Road (East University, South University and North University), North Huayan Road, Hebei Road and Longze Road, covering an area of 1253 Mu and a building area of 580000 square meters.
