Dahuanglong Island

Dahuanglong Island, with an area of 5.2 square kilometers, is one of the earliest inhabited islands in Shengsi archipelago. The island is rich in human and natural landscape. Among them, yuanbaoshi is the most famous. The sea area around Huanglong island is vast, and fish resources are very rich. It is especially famous for its large size, red color, clean meat and delicious taste. Because of its curved hook, it is named "golden hook shrimp", which is favored by people from all walks of life. Therefore, Huanglong island is also known as "the hometown of shrimp". Literati, poets and heroes of all ages always write inscriptions and postscripts when they visit here, leaving a lot of cliff carvings. On the top of the cliff at the mouth of DAAO mountain on Huanglong Island, there are four characters of "Hanhai style". According to records, this was written by Liu Bingwen, a general in charge of Ningshao and other places, and Chen MENGDOU, a guerrilla general in Ningjia during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Opposite Huanglong island is Wulong township at the east end of Sijiao island. The fish and shrimp on the island are also very delicious. Foreign tourists can taste the freshest seafood. Xiaohuanglong island is an uninhabited island on the left of Dahuang island.

Dahuanglong Island

Dahuanglong island is located in Huanglong Township, Shengsi County, Zhejiang Province. It is named for its magnificent mountains, yellow soil and Yellow Sea. The island is located in the southeast of Sijiao mountain, 4.5km away from the shore. There are 13 mountains, mainly DAAO Gangding, Taiping Gangding, Shiwu Gangding, Maoding mountain and so on.

Introduction to dahuanglongdao

Rhubarb Dragon Island is shaped like Wutong leaves, 3.88 km long east-west, 1.5 km north and south, 5.12 square kilometers of land area, and coastal twists and turns. There is a beach along the coast of Da'ao, and the rest are steep. The total length of the coastline is 21.14 kilometers, and the highest point is 223.5 meters above sea level. There are yuanbaoshi, lunjin stone (also known as kongmingguan), lotus stone, magpie stone, monkey stone, Xinzi stone and so on. County level cultural relics include "Hanhai style" stone carvings in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, "Donghai Yunlong" stone carvings in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty and "Leshi Yongzun stele". There are 750 inscriptions in the text of the stele, recording the fishery production of Huanglong in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, which has certain historical value.

History of dahuanglong Island

Dahuanglong island was developed earlier. In the song and Yuan Dynasties, there were people living and fishing in this area. There are many ancient names such as Shenshui mountain, Yuanbao mountain, Shidao mountain, Huanglong Mountain and so on. It belonged to Changguo county (prefecture) before Ming Dynasty and Dinghai County in early Qing Dynasty. In 1690, the capital of Zhejiang Province and Jiangnan province explored the sea. The southern part was assigned to Dinghai County of Zhejiang Province, and the northern part to Chongming County of Jiangnan. At that time, it was the place where Jiangsu and Zhejiang met. At the end of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the north and the South were divided. In 1934, Huanglong township was set up in Nangang District, belonging to the sixth (Daishan) District of Dinghai County; Wulong township was built jointly by Beigang district and xiawu'ao (now Wulong township), belonging to the Fifth District of Chongming County. It was liberated on July 8, 1950. In 1951, Beigang district was merged into Huanglong Township, ending the history of one island belonging to two provinces.

In 2000, there were 3061 households with 10174 residents.
